Deb relocated to Dallas, TX in the summer of 2015 and began looking for volunteer opportunities almost immediately.  A 3-year volunteer position with Positive Coaching Alliance’s Minnesota chapter helped her to connect with the North Texas chapter and begin working in an area Deb loves – youth sports.  Prior to her time at PCA, Deb spent 7 years as the volunteer Athletic Director for two Catholic grade schools, responsible for all aspects of the program from recruiting, budget, and purchasing, to hiring, training and overseeing coaches.  More than anything, this experience helped shape her belief that youth sports should be about the kids and it should be fun.  Although Deb’s personal sports experience didn’t include playing – she grew up with five competitive swimmers and spent many years in aquatic centers cheering her brothers and sisters.  She does however, coach a mean game of volleyball at the youth level.

Deb’s professional career includes more than 25 years in telecommunications and IT sales and support for direct marketing companies in the Twin Cities.  She officially “retired” from the corporate world in 1999 to become a full time mom.

Deb continues to volunteer time to both the Minnesota and North Texas PCA chapters. She also serves as a volunteer advocate for Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program which represents abused and neglected children in the courts as they await permanent placement in a safe and loving home.

Deb and her husband Jon are adapting to empty-nest in Texas as their only daughter, Kate, graduated from high school in 2015 and is enrolled in Northeastern University in Boston, MA.  Their golden retreiver, Lola, along with two cats provide some comfort, as does the warn Dallas climate in January!
