Melanie is married to David McElroye and has two children, Ty and Nya.  Ty is a 10th grader at Reedy High School.  He plays tuba in the award winning Reedy Lions High School Marching Band, is a member of the Best Buddies Club and the Model UN Club.  Nya is a 7th grader at Pearson Middle School.  Nya plays trumpet in the Pearson 7th grade band and was recently asked to sit on the first ever Pearson President’s Cabinet. Nya has been playing lacrosse since the 2nd grade here in Frisco and with the Fury since its founding.  She also plays on a local lacrosse club team and a Division A basketball team out of the Fieldhouse, Dream Team 2025.


Melanie is currently a full-time Physical Education staff member at Hosp Elementary in Frisco. Prior to working at Hosp, Melanie was a substitute teacher with Frisco ISD for 2 years.  Before becoming a stay-at-home mom 6 years ago, she spent 19 years in the Social Work and Education fields.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from the State University of NY at Brockport, a Master of Social Work from Syracuse University and a Master of Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher College.  She just recently hung up the reigns of being the Hosp Elementary Council Delegate and the Pearson Middle School Reflections Chair.  Moving into the 2018-2019 school year, Melanie will be the inaugural Program Chair for the newly formed Reedy High School PTSA and the Board President for The Girls Lacrosse Club of Frisco. Youth sports has always been a passion for Melanie, coaching basketball and softball teams since her teen years.  Her desire to promote positive and nurturing athletics has led her to this role.  Go Fury!!!
