High School Head Coach: Cody Wagner

Cody is from Akron, Ohio and moved to Chandler, Arizona when he was a kid. Cody started playing lacrosse in 5th grade with the Anderson Jaguars, in high school he played for Corona Del Sol, he then went on to play at the collegiate level for Grand Canyon University. Cody received his Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. Cody now works as a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner for a community health care clinic.

  High School Program Coordinator & Coach: CJ Berry 

CJ was raised in Ossining New York and attended Ossining High School where he started playing Lacrosse as a sophomore.  As an attack man, he lettered in his junior and senior years and was co-captain as a senior in ‘77.  CJ then attended Cornell University where he played lacrosse at the collegiate level in ’78 and ’79 earning a Varsity B letter and having the good fortune to be coached by Eamon McEneaney and Bruce Arena; two Cornell Hall of Famers and Eamon being hot off of having just won two consecutive D1 national titles with the Big Red.  CJ and his wife Michele reside in Chandler where they have lived for the last 18 years, and, while they are empty-nesters now, their children (26 and 29) are both products of the Chandler Unified School District.

Director of Youth Development: Cody Trella


Cody’s passion for lacrosse began at age 10 in his hometown of Chandler Arizona. He began his playing experience as a goalie, but by the time he graduated high school he had played almost every position as he played various roles through the midfield. By his junior and senior year Cody was a captain of the Lacrosse team at Chandler High School, as well as a captain of a non-profit travel lacrosse organization called Brady’s Bunch.  
After high school Cody attended Lindenwood University in Belleville, IL where he was part of pioneering a brand new lacrosse program. Cody was selected as a team captain all four years he played at Lindenwood. While playing at Lindenwood Cody earned many honors including Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference offensive player of the year, and NAIA Independent Conference player of the year. He also received All-Conference and All-American honors in each season he competed at the collegiate level. Throughout his college career Cody volunteered his time to help coach both his former high school as well as his former club team.
Starting his lacrosse career as a goalie and ending as an attackman Cody has competed at every position on a lacrosse field. Cody looks to share both his passion and knowledge for the game of lacrosse to help young individuals take their game to the next level.  

Cody was a Regional Director for True Lacrosse for almost two years.  True Lacrosse is the largest and one of the most competitive travel lacrosse organizations in the country.  In addition, he coached Brady's Bunch Lacrosse for over 5 years.  Brady's Bunch is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness of children's cancer through lacrosse, hence "Play For Someone Else" which inspires, motivates, and supports participants to achieve success both on and off the field.

Youth Coach: Jeff Hebert

Jeff was raised in Phoenix Arizona. He started playing both indoor and outdoor lacrosse in 6th grade with defense as his main position with a little goalie as well. He attended Saguaro High School where he played defense for both Junior Varsity and Varsity and graduated in 2009.  During college he was an assistant coach for the Glendale Vipers defense at the Junior High level.  Jeff graduated college in 2013 with a degree in Food Industry Management from ASU and currently works for Modernize Wealth as the Administration and Relationship Manager. Jeff and his wife Andrea live in Chandler with their two dogs.  From the first time he coached lacrosse, Jeff has had a passion for coaching and looks forward to this opportunity with Chandler Lacrosse.

  Youth Coach: Gene Lower

Gene was the leading goal scorer at Boy’s Latin High School in Maryland in 1992.  He continued to play in college for the University of Maryland.  After college Gene was the assistant offense coach at Cape Henelopen High School.  Later he became the head coach for the University of Arizona Women’s Club Lacrosse. In addition to lacrosse, Gene was the head coach for both the Chandler Pop Warner and Flag Football teams.  Recently Gene was the assistant coach for our east valley Misfits Box lacrosse team.  He is really excited to be apart of the new Chandler Lacrosse Dogs youth program.  Great things are happening!

Youth Coach: Shane Spielman


Shane was born in a small town just west of Chicago, Illinois. His family moved to the Chandler area in 2005. Since he can remember sports have been his passion, no matter what game was being played. He has a long history of playing a variety of sports from pre-k all the way up until the collegiate level. Shane not only had the passion to play sports but knew he wanted to carry on that passion into coaching when his playing days were over. He attended one practice with the Chandler Lacrosse and immediately knew that this program was the one he wanted to call home. Shane currently resides in Chandler, AZ while working for Houzz Inc. 



        Athletic Trainer: Alyssa Wagner, MS, ATC, LAT


Alyssa is a Certified Athletic Trainer. She graduated from AT Still University with a Master of Science in Athletic Training. She completed her undergraduate degrees at Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Psychology. Throughout her education, she provided athletic training services with local high schools, community colleges, D1 Colleges, clinical settings, and professional teams. She has worked with the Arizona Rattlers Arena Football and Phoenix Mercury WNBA. She has provided coverage for three years to Pinnacle High School Lacrosse, one year at Corona Del Sol Lacrosse, and other lacrosse events throughout the valley. For the past four years Alyssa has been working with Pop Warner Football as well. On top of her studies Alyssa has completed an impressive body of concussion research some of which has been published and presented at national conferences.

Alyssa grew up in Tucson where she played volleyball, soccer, basketball and ran track. Surprisingly in the desert of Tucson, Alyssa was a competitive figure skater! She was thrilled to find the profession of Athletic Training that combined her love of sports and her interest in medicine, injury prevention, and treatment. She currently works as the Head Athletic Trainer at Poston Butte High School and teaches full time. She loves being involved in athletics and keeping athletes safe and healthy on and off the field.
