Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club was founded in 1973 by Charlie Monaco, and was named for Verie “Bud” Hartwell who was the Glastonbury High School Soccer coach for many years.  Bud was Charlie and Dave Monaco’s coach.  Soccer board meetings were held in Charlie Monaco’s family room and Charlie was president, coach and a licensed referee.

Two Overall Sportmanship awards were presented in honor of Charlie Monaco at the 2021 28th Annual Glastonbury Hartwell Spring Warm-Up Soccer Tournament.  The two teams, selected from 190 teams overall, demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and respect for the rules of the game and for their opponents.
