FYL COVID Practice Guidelines

  • If you feel ill or have a temperature prior to coming, PLEASE STAY HOME! No high risk category people should attend.
  • FYL will promote an “Arrive, Play, and Leave” mentality and ensure that individuals are not congregating in common areas or parking lots before, during or following practices.
  • Every person on or off the field will be required to wear a mask. Face covering on all coaches, spectators, anyone on sidelines.
  • No parents, guardians, or spectators are allowed on the playing fields or sidelines at any time. Only coaches, timekeepers and players are allowed on the team sidelines.
  • All players must wear a looped mask, no gaiters.
  • Players, coaches, and officials should be encouraged to arrive for practices, games, meets and competitions dressed to play. Players must be dressed in full pads prior to coming on the field and must leave gear bags in the car.
  • Coaches need to be on the field and ready for practice before players go onto the field.
  • Practice Arrival Time: Families should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to start time and players must remain in the vehicle until 5 minutes prior to the start of practice.
  • Game Arrival Time: Families should arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to start time for games.
  • Players and coaches must always maintain social distancing and keep 6 feet apart. All players on sidelines will maintain 6 feet distance if not on the field to the best of our ability.
  • Coaches should reach out to opponents and share FYL COVID guidelines prior to the game.  Also, Coaches should reach out to opponents before the game and find out if they have Specific Guidelines for their town.
  • All players must have a dedicated individual water bottle- No Sharing.
  • As soon as your session concludes, players should head directly to their cars.
  • Sportsmanship should continue in a touchless manner – no handshakes/slaps/fist bumps.
  • There are no spectator limits this season (2 adults and siblings are welcome to be at the games.) However, you must be 6 ft away from other families. Children from other families should not interact.
  • There will be no port-a-potties at the fields this season.

FYL COVID Precautions:

  • Covid pack to coaches, including extra masks and sanitizer.
  • Signage on the fields
  • This will be sent out to families and posted on website
  • Stagger start time by 15 minutes between practices and games.
  • Activity Organizers, as well as coaches, participants, and others engaging in sports activities are required to cooperate with state health officials and local boards of health and their authorized agents.
  • Activity Organizers must keep rosters of all participants with appropriate contact information and make that information available upon request by state officials, local boards of health or their authorized agents.

MBYLL Game Modifications:

From MBYLL - Face Offs will be allowed at the start of the season. For weeks 1, 2 and 3 of Classic Play, both coaches in each game must agree to have face-offs for them to take place. If one coach does not want to due to lack of practice or health/safety concerns, there will be no face offs for that game. MBYLL Board of Directors is strongly encouraging Town Program Leaders to support coaches who want to make the decision not to have face offs so they do not get pressure from anyone to change their position. Coaches from both teams MUST communicate and discuss the face-off PRIOR to arriving at the fields on Sundays.

  • If face-offs are NOT being done, following a goal, the team scored upon will be granted possession. The opposing team must start outside the box until the whistle is blown. We are urging coaches to use common sense. If one team is struggling to clear the ball and routinely leads to turnovers before gaining an offensive possession, coaches should consider allowing a free clear to mid-field. Per normal MBYLL rules, if any team is trailing by 6+ goals at anytime in the game, they automatically get possession at midfield.

Back to Back Games:

Teams are limited to competing against a single opposing team per day and can play multiple competitions against the same team in a single day. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a team can play up to two games against two different opposing teams in a single day provided that the 1) games are played back-to-back, 2) the facility has multiple fields, courts, or surfaces that allow teams to distance between game transitions, 3) the facility has adequate transition space for all participants, including spectators and 4) no teams or individual players are required wait for their second game other than for a limited break between games to transition between one game to the second game.
