Alex Westlund, Class of  '99, is one of the most decorated goaltenders in Yale University's history. In 1998, he backstopped the Bulldogs to their first-ever ECAC crown (ending the school's 46-year NCAA tournament drought),  earned All-America honors and became the first – and only – Yale player to be named the ECAC's top goaltender.

Sixteen years after moving on to professional hockey, Westlund still owns school career records for wins (42) and saves (2,704).

Alex has played professional hockey for the best leagues in the world, including the KHL in Russia, the AHL,  and the Austrian League, where he has been named the league and playoffs MVP. In retirement Alex is currently serving as the Goaltending Coach for the Augsburg Panther in the DEL, the top league in Germany.
