Where are you from?

Woodinville, WA

What position do you like playing the most in volleyball?

I like them all, but I am a Setter at heart. I love developing and executing a game plan, running a team's offense and giving my hitters the best opportunities to put the ball away.

Who is one volleyball player (athlete) that you are inspired by and why?

Paula Weishoff, watching the 1992 Barcelona Indoor Olympic Games on TV, I fell in love with the slide because Paula ran it like no other. She was so terminal hitting it that she led the US Women's Team to the Bronze Medal and was named the Olympic Games' Most Valuable Player. After retiring from competitive play, Paula became a coach, passing on her knowledge to the up and coming US Athletes.

Why do you play volleyball?

I play Volleyball because it is my 1st love and passion. I have the friends that I have now because of the hundreds of tournaments that I have competed in across my 27 year playing career. Volleyball demands athletes to be focused to maintain a high level of play. It is the ultimate blend of athletic and mental execution. I love that volleyball is complex and technical and the ultimate team sport.

Why do you coach? What excites you about coaching?

I coach because I love passing on volleyball knowledge. There is nothing better than teaching a player how to hit a new set / play, and seeing the excitement on their face when they crush the ball!

What do you value most in your players?

Hard work and dedication to get better every time they play and putting the team and their teammates first!

What is your most embarrassing volleyball moment?

I have had a few embarrassing moments, but the one that comes to mind was when I was setting in a national tournament in the San Diego Convention Center, and for some reason, rather than diving to pick up a tip, I decided to try to get under the ball by kicking it. Well I slipped on the Sport Court and ended up doing the splits, meanwhile ripping my board shorts from front to back and tearing a ligament in my knee. Rather than sitting out the rest of the tournament, i continued to play and set for 2 more days.
