Youth Hockey is here to stay in the Elmira-Corning area!

The long-awaited merger of Elmira Youth Hockey & Corning Youth Hockey is here.
The EC Youth Hockey Association announces the
EC Ice Wings

Our new name is the result of combining the two former organizations and identifying it as the home of youth hockey in the greater Elmira-Corning area.

The EC Ice Wings take the rich history of both the Elmira & Corning Youth Hockey organizations to put forth a youth hockey organization whose aim is to bring youth skaters (boys & girls) closer together through a common interest in a Family Friendly environment based on the fundamentals of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Athleticism, and Fun. To encourage and promote recreational hockey and skating for youth skaters of all levels of ability; to offer skater development and opportunity to “grow on skates;” and to cultivate camaraderie while building a passion for the sport.

Registration Opens July 15, 2022

The EC Ice Wings are working with First Arena in Elmira and Elmira College to offer the best home ice facilities in New York State to our skaters and visiting teams. Tom Creath, President of the EC Youth Hockey Association said, “for too long our local talent left the area for other opportunities.” That changes today. The merger, along with our partnerships with First Arena and the Elmira College Murray Athletic Center, put forth an organization large enough to provide levels of youth hockey from Learn-to-Skate to State-Bound Travel Teams. “Not only will we keep our talent skating in the Elmira-Corning area, but we’ll attract talent to our area.” We’re thrilled to call the First Arena and the Elmira College Murray Athletic Center, two of the best home rink facilities in the State, our home rinks.”

"The joining of our two organizations will provide the best opportunity for youth skaters in this area. We’ll have teams at all age levels, from as early as 3 years old to 18” said EC Ice Wings VP, Karie Magliocca. The partnerships with First Arena and the Elmira College Murray Athletic Center will set the stage for tournaments using both facilities that will have a positive economic impact on the region.

We also have a call out to our Hockey Family. If you have skated at a high-level and you’re looking for your chance to get back on the ice to coach kids or make some money officiating, please contact Brian Stumper, ACE Coordinator for the EC Ice Wings for coaching or John Longwell of the Hockey Officials Association. There are several opportunities to get involved and help to promote hockey, grow the game, and support the next generation of hockey players in our area.

The EC Youth Hockey Association plans to utilize all four sheets of ice the Elmira-Corning area including First Arena Main Event and Rec Rink; The Elmira College Murray Athletic Center Ice Dome; and the Corning Nasser Ice Rink. See our website for more information on skating, coaching, officiating and more.
