U14 Jamboree offers early season training for young curlers
USA Curling is pleased to announce the implementation of another piece of its junior athlete development plan, the first ever U14 National Jamboree, to he held October 17-20, 2019, in Bismarck, North Dakota. The event will offer young curlers an avenue to compete with friends, meet other curlers from around the country of similar age, and fall in love with the game. It will also be an opportunity to receive valuable early season training.
Teams will compete against teams in their pool but not beyond. The event will begin with a clinic for athletes to help improve delivery, strategy, and team systems. This clinic will be conducted by top coaches and Olympic athletes. Concurrently, there will be a beginning parent coach clinic to provide interested non-curling parents with useful information in coaching their young team. Also planned is a coach mentorship opportunity in which an experienced coach or athlete will assist a team and their coach from pre-game meeting to post-game wrap-up. Although the event will feel like a championship event in many ways, it is really a development event because of the strong emphasis on training. The opening reception on Thursday evening will feature a keynote by Tyler George, Olympic Gold Medalist.
Other Jamboree goals are to encourage retention of youth curlers at the club level, and to create a starting point for youth competitive curling.
Competition details are as follows:
2 team time-outs per game, coaches allowed to signal time-outs, opposing coaches may confer during time-outs
Open teams with regard to gender
Teams must be comprised of members of the same club, no exceptions
Curlers who cannot form a full team from their own club may sign up individually and be placed on a team
Registration cost is $100.00 per curler (individual registration) and $400 per team
Players must be under 14 years of age as of June 30, 2019
Players must possess a fundamental level of play. The event is not designed for players who have never thrown a stone.
A coach who has met all requirements* is required for each team
In this first year, the event will be capped at 24 teams, with registrations accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The Jamboree will expand in future years to meet demand. Now is the time to get your team formed, as registration will open August 14, 2019.

If you struggle controling how hard you throw. If you have difficulty being accurate. If you feel unstable or off balance.
