Football

Flex football is now open! We have been holding workout sessions for the kids 2x per week since late June. We just opened registration for flag football and flex football. Flag football will be for younger kids (9 and under), flex will be for ages 10-14 and we are hoping to draw outside clubs to enter teams into the league - all games will be played at SCHS. Flex football is 9 on 9 limited contact football. No one in the area is offering this yet as a sport, so we hope to attract new families to SCAA. The goal would be to have a flex football season each spring.

Boys Lacrosse Fall Brawl Registration is Open
by posted 09/07/2020

Good afternoon, South County Colts Families.

For those of you who do not know me, I am the new South County Lacrosse Boys director. After several years with the program, John Buonerba recently passed the lacrosse stick on to me. John, your support for the program and enthusiasm for the game will be deeply missed. I have been a coach with the Colts for the past three years.

We would like to put a U14 team together to participate in the Fairfax Fall Brawl tournament on November 28, 2020, at the Evergreen Sports Complex in Leesburg, VA. This one-day, outdoor event will be fun and provide your players the opportunity to get some exercise and build skills, teamwork, and lasting memories. We must have at least 12 and no more than 18 players on our roster to register. Registration is $70 per player.

If your player would like to participate, please do not wait to register.  We will need to know whether we have enough players to field a team by October 17.  In addition, with only 18 slots on the roster, registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Please visit the SCAA website at the link below and pre-register. I am also including a link for the Fairfax Fall Brawl website for more details regarding this year’s tournament.

SCAA Yearly Member Meeting, 9/29
by posted 09/04/2020

Fellow SCAA Families,

SCAA is grateful to have served the Lorton area for over 14 years now.  With the development of SCHS, we were able to transition our athletic association to grow from our original sport of football to 11 sports that currently serves over 425 families.

These past few months have been a challenge for us all and we are thankful to the dedication of many families, that direct, lead and shepherd our youth.  SCAA will continue to serve the community and we look forward to sharing our vision at the upcoming annual meeting.   Research strongly supports what we believe; a strong foundation in recreational community sports helps our youth successfully navigate through their high school and collegiate years academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Please consider contributing your time and talents to the continued growth of our program. Specifically, we are looking for new Board Members. After 14 years, our founding parents are ready to “pass the baton” to the next generation of families.  Please join us on our annual ZOOM meeting ( https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84070015989) on September 29, 2020 at 7:00 and contact me directly if you are interested in joining the leadership of SCAA.

I am proud and honored to serve in this community.  I look forward to working with you!

Amy Coffin is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
