The Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation (NVWF) is an all-volunteer organization formed by 4 clubs in 1966 to promote wrestling in the Northern Virginia area.  Currently, the NVWF is comprised of twenty-plus wrestling clubs with over 1,000 coed wrestlers ages 5 to 15 from 12 different cities and towns in 11 Virginia counties are particpating NVWF members.

NVWF stresses safety and sportsmanship while having fun.  Fairfax County Department of Recreation presented NVWF with a Community Service Award "for enriching the lives of Fairfax County citizens by providing opportunities for quality amateur athletic competition.

For the winter season, clubs start registration in the Mid-September period to prepare for winter practices which start in early November to coincide with the start of the high school season.  Please contact individual clubs regarding registration timeframes and costs.  Each club acts independently in terms of their practices and schedules.

Each club is required to additionally register their wrestlers with USA Wrestling for secondary medical insurance coverage. However, parents/guardians are required to register their children with both NVWF and their respective clubs.

For the winter season, NVWF holds competition events between December through February throughout the northern VA area.  A final tournament with all clubs is held in late February or early March for wrestlers that qualify.  The NVWF contracts with Fairfax County Public School Athletic Trainers to provide professional medical care at our tournaments.

If you have any questions, contact the commissioner or registrar at or   respectively.
