We hope this communication finds all of you well and healthy despite the ongoing COVID-19 event. We with our families are experiencing the same disruptions that you are and appreciate your patience and cooperation during the current situation. Like you, Maplewood Independent Youth Baseball League has been patiently waiting and navigating through this pandemic with the hope that eventually we would be able to bring our players the baseball they look forward each year and every year.
With that said, it is the intention of Maplewood Independent Youth Baseball League to start baseball operations in conjunction with dates and guidelines set by State of Massachusetts in the re-opening phased approach outlined by state government and health officials. At this current time, those details are still being developed and should be released over the next week. We hope to be able to conduct team practices by mid-June and as the state moves into phase 3 incorporate games as determined by state officials. Again, the league's timing is at the discretion of the State of Massachusetts and Department of Health guidelines.
As you are aware at this point by the changes we have all experienced, there will be major changes to the way activities in and around the baseball diamond will be conducted. A new set of guidelines will be established so that we may proceed with the 2020 season in way that will be safe and fun for all participants. There will be responsibilities shared by all of us (board, manager, coaches, parents, guardians, fans, and players) in order for the season to be conducted as safely as possible. There will be high expectation of mutual respect and cooperation required so that we can create fun and healthy environment so our players can enjoy this american pastime, not mention have looked forward to for some time now.
Below are the steps we plan to deploy:
Immediately mobilize managers and coaches
Managers and coaches contact teams
New 2020 season waiver to be submitted to league by all members
Notification and access of 2020 Youth Baseball Season COVID-19 related guidelines
Start practices in mid-June
Start games in conjunction with the Phase III
Again, the pace at which baseball operations develop depends on variables beyond our control. We plan to do our best in communicating with our members any developments and changes to the 2020 baseball season.
We appreciate all your support and patients through this difficult situation and wish all of you the very best. We hope to see all our players on the diamond with your teams very soon.
MIYBL Would like to ask all managers, coaches, and parents to utilize the parking lot adjacent to CP field for all games as a courtesy to the neighbors surrounding the park. Thank you for your cooperation.
