CHSAA suspends Spring Sports until April 18th
Eagles Family,

Yes, this does mean that we will not be hitting the field for a few more weeks.  Yes, this does mean that there is still hope for a shortened season as CHSAA has not cancelled spring sports.

More importantly, we need to be doing our part to take extra care of ourselves, our families and our neighbors.  Especially those around us that are more susceptible to catching COVID-19 - the older generation and those with weakened immune systems and respirator issues.  Even though all of our players are in great shape and healthy, that doesn't mean that they can't get infected or carry the virus with them wherever they may go.  That said I am highly DISCOURAGING any captain/led practices until further notice.  I would also be DISCOURAGE any team/boys get-togethers so as to reduce the risk of community spread.  As much as I would like for the boys to stay sharp, I'd rather have them stay healthy and well and not be part of the "spread".   It would be much better if we hit the shortened season with a full healthy team and not one where we are decimated with several boys who are quarantined.

NOTE :

Wallball has not been suspended
Conditioning has not been suspended
Working out on your own has not been suspended
Shooting has not been suspended
Footwork Drills have not been suspended

Only Practice as a team has been been suspended.

To encourage teamwork, please feel free to game online together.  I know y'all know how to do that!

Look for ways to support and encourage those around you - your brothers, your teammates, your families and those that are struggling with much bigger things than lacrosse!  I'm right there with y'all, not being able to play the game we love!  But this does remind me that it is a privilege to play this game and missing it, makes me love it and this team even more!  I am so thankful for this community, this family.  We are blessed to have one another and this great game!

Stay Sharp, Stay Focused, Stay Family!

GO EAGLES!

More Guidance on Coaches NO CONTACT Policy
Eagles,

I have received more guidance regarding how much and what type of contact our coaching staff may have with players.  I hope this will help to clear up the COACHES NON CONTACT Policy for the next few weeks.

Coaches may not be present at, nor conduct any organized workouts/practices/condition sessions/weightlifting/etc... with players until this period is over.

Players may hold their own VOLUNTARY workouts/practices/conditioning sessions/weightlifting/get-togethers during this time.  I must stress the word VOLUNTARY!  Coaches may not be present during any of these get-togethers!

I must stress that even during those player led get-togethers, that y'all be mindful of the ever-changing state of the Coronavirus situation.  Limit skin to skin contact (bump elbows/high five with gloves on).  If you're coughing/sneezing or have a cold like symptoms and especially a fever - DO NOT PARTICIPATE and STAY HOME!

I am able to update everyone (families and players) on the ever evolving state of our season as I get new information.

I hope this answers a few of your questions that y'all have been asking.

Enjoy your time off!

CHSAA Postpones all Spring Season Sports
Eagles Family,

To keep rumors down to a minimum I am sending out this quick email.

CHSAA has postponed all Spring Sports and Activities until April 6th.  https://chsaanow.com/2020-03-12/spring-sports-and-activities-suspended-until-april-6/

That is all the information I currently have.  I will have more by practice tonight, and then I'm sure that won't be enough to answer everyone's questions...

Regarding Practice - YES, we will have practice tonight from 5-7pm!  The postponement starts tomorrow.

We will also have the Varsity Dinner tonight after practice as well so we can enter the postponement on a good note!  Again, that dinner is for Varsity players and those players who have been identified currently as our players who swing between JV and Varsity.

First Varsity Dinner Tomorrow After Practice
Eagles Family,

One of our favorite traditions is our Varsity Dinners before every home game.  Tomorrow (Thursday) night is our first one.  It will be held at our house (1225 Flowering Almond Drive, Loveland CO, 80538) right after practice.  It is for all Varsity and Swing players.  So come on over and enjoy some great food and camaraderie before our first game.

Speaking of Varsity Games, we are still working on getting two replacement games for our Spring Break games.  We will keep everyone informed as I officially know more.

Great Scrimmage, Berthoud Practice Monday, Varsity Dinner Signup
Eagles,

What a GREAT DAY to be outside and play lacrosse!  Kudos to both JV and Varsity teams on putting in the WORK today!  That was a great start to the season.  Lots of great play and we learned a lot about ourselves today.  We have some more work to do this week and that will start Monday night at Berthoud High School.  We will be practicing at our game field from 6:30-8:30pm to get a feel for the field and lights.

Before each Home game, Eagle's families take turns holding Varsity Dinners for the boys.  Please go to this online signup and pick a night.

We are very pleased with how we have started and look forward to getting back to work this week!

Have a GREAT weekend!

The season is almost upon us as it starts on Monday!  If the weather holds and the field at Walt Clark is in good shape, we will hold practice/tryouts there from 4:30-6:30pm.  Please do not be late as we will start on time at 4:30pm.

Eagles LAX - Faceoff Dinner and other Spring Information

Hello Eagles Community!

As our coaches and players get ready for another successful lacrosse season, we are also getting ready to begin the season like we always do - with our annual Faceoff Dinner.  There are some changes from past seasons, so check out the details below for important information about that night.

Faceoff Dinner - We will hold our annual Faceoff Dinner at Scheel's at 6:30pm - 8:30pm on Friday, March 6.  TVHS is completely booked and Scheel's has invited our team and families to have the dinner at their store. This will be your chance to meet the coaches, learn about the team and get some dinner before the boys scrimmage the next day at Dawson.  You will not need to bring anything but yourselves, but please RSVP to the link below so we know how many people to plan for.

Link: TVHS Eagles Face Off Dinner

Spring practice begins Monday, March 2 at 4:30pm @ Walt Clark Middle School.  Tryouts for Varsity will be one day only.  Beginning March 2, all practices are mandatory for all players.  Coach Payton will make alternative plans based on inclement weather or field conditions.

- Our first scrimmage will be Saturday March 7. More information to come on the scrimmage as we get closer.

- All scholarship applications for help with Spring Registration costs should be turned into Derk Masters by Feb 21.  If you have questions about how to apply for scholarships, please check with Derk at

TV Spring Athletic Packets - If you have not yet filled out and turned in your TV Athletic packet to Beth Mierau at TVHS, please get this done ASAP!  Your player will not be able to play without completing this packet.

We have some URGENT needs for Volunteer help this season.  Please see the list below for how you can help
1.  2 board members from Freshman class - very small time commitment, 1 hour meeting per month, then filling in as needed
2.  Scoreboard operator for 6 home games - we need a commitment from 1-2 people for the entire season
3.  Spotter for 6 home games - 1 person to spot (identify) players names and numbers for announcer during the games

Dave Loomis

Team Apparel
Eagles Lax,

We have created an online store for y'all if you want to purchase any team apparel for the upcoming season.  It closes on the 17th, so the items can be ordered and arrive in time for our first weekend of games!

There's apparel for both men and women that include options for both of our Logos (TV Lacrosse/Eagle Emblem Lacrosse).

This is completely optional and there are no minimums to make a purchase unlike past years.  So if you're the only person to order a beanie or a 1/4 zip, you will get it!

Additionally - Thank you for your support at last Saturday's Fundraiser!  It was a HUGE success as we raised over $2,000 between the silent auction and 20% return on all dinner/drink checks!  We will have three more dinner nights at McGraffs (without the silent auction) on 3/7 (after our scrimmage), 3/14 (after our game against Littleton) and 4/25 after our game against Cheyenne Mountain - so save those dates!

Have a great week and expect an email with upcoming Spring Season information coming out later this week.

REMINDER - get your packets turned into Beth at TVHS by Friday!

Online Store open for PLAYERS ONLY - Must order by FRIDAY!!!
Eagles LAX,

Due to the new way we are handling player fees and costs this year, we are trying something new for purchasing the required player shooter shirts and pinnies.  We are working with BSN sports who has a great working relationship with our school to setup an online store so you can purchase these items yourselves.  The only catch is that we need to make these purchases ahead of time so that we can get them in before the season starts.  There are three items listed in the store -

  • Shooter Shirt (Required)
  • Practice Pinnie (Required)  NOTE - please enter the following number: WxCfJsckkW.
  • Winter Beanie (Optional, but I placed it on there as I got a great response from boys when I showed it to them)
Click the link here to shop.

This store is only open until Friday, so please purchase your items before then.

First Friday in February Fundraiser Information
Eagles LAX,

Happy New Year! We know everyone has been very busy with the holidays but as we settle into the new year we would like to remind everyone of our up coming fundraiser on February 7th. This is going to be a fun event and could potentially be a huge fundraiser for us! Last year’s event raised over $15,000!! Please sign up to volunteer or to get a donation basket for the silent auction. All baskets need to be delivered to Cory Ramsden by Jan. 28th. Also, please purchase tickets from Coach Payton prior to Jan 20th so that our team can earn $500.

We have limited time before the Fundraiser gets here - please make this a priority so we can have a successful fundraiser for our boys!

We are asking for each family to participate in some way. We have included signup genius links. Here are the options that were included in the last Fundraising email:

        1. Donate a silent auction basket. Try to ask for donations from local businesses, then put together a basket to keep your cost down. All baskets need to have a minimum retail value of at least $75. Please list all items in basket and its retail value (See attached Auction Examples for ideas). Attached you will also find an auction donation sheet which can be filled out as a receipt for the business donating items. (up to 3 families can collaborate on the baskets) All baskets need to be dropped off to Cory Ramsden (970-227-3041) by Jan. 28th.  Sign-up here -  https://www.signupgenius.com/index.cfm?go=s.signup&urlid=10c0c4eadaa23aaf58-first1&useFullSite=true

        2. Volunteer at the event. (they calculate the amount of money donated to each team based on the number of volunteers for each team.) Sign up here -

        3. Find a company that would like to be a sponsor or place an ad in the program for the event. Our team receives 100% of these proceeds! (contact Cory Ramsden if you need more info) You can sign up here (go to the bottom of the page) -  https://www.signupgenius.com/index.cfm?go=s.signup&urlid=10c0c4eadaa23aaf58-first1&useFullSite=true

This years event will be held on Friday February 7th at The Garden Room 6:30-10:30. The theme for the night is 80’s so mark your calendars, grab your 80’s duds and join us for an exciting evening. There will be a live and silent auction, good food, tasty drinks, and 80’s music throughout the night. Tickets are $50 per person and includes delicious food from Chalkboard Gourmet Express. Drink tickets are available for $20 and include bottomless wine or beer. Our team receives 100% of the proceeds for the tickets we sell so tell your friends! Contact Coach Steve Payton for food tickets. All tickets need to be purchased by Jan 20th. If Coach Payton turns in the money by Jan 21st our team will receive $500. Drink tickets are available at the event. This is an adult only event. We hope to see many lacrosse parents at this event to show support and have a great night out!

Thank you for your support,

Eagles LAX - Conditioning, Nutrition, Winter Session Information
Eagles,

The first third of our Winter Session is now complete!  Great Job to all of those that are showing up and getting better - you have now put in six more days of work than the competition!

There is no practice this Saturday.  We will reconvene the first week of January on Tuesday, the 7th.  Please see the attached Calendar.

I have also attached a Nutrition Sheet that Coach Ken has put together.  It is useful for those of you trying to put on a little muscle in preparation for the upcoming season as well as those of you who are wanting to eat clean.

Do not just sit around the next two weeks that you have off - this is the time where you pull ahead of the competition and put in the work on your own!  STAY ACTIVE - do something active at least every other day if not more.  Be creative - go skiing, snowshoeing, play pick up 3x3 with some of the other lacrosse guys, go for a run, swim or bike ride, get into a giant all afternoon snowball fight with your buddies, play wall ball, lift weights, just do not sit around!!!

I have included a great Wall Ball 300 challenge worksheet.  Get on the wall and complete all 300 without any drops!  Under 7 minutes - GETTING GOOD, Under 6 minutes - OUTSTANDING, Under 5 minutes - AMAZING, Under 4 minutes - WALL BALL GURU!  This will do more for your stick work than anything else - especially useful if you're busy playing other winter sports!

But most of all, enjoy the time off from school with your friends and family!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas Everyone,

Steve

P.S. I know this is a busy time of year, for those of you going on the Spring Break Trip, please make sure you pay your December and January installment (coming up) so we have enough cash on hand to finish paying for the second half of the airline tickets we have reserved/purchased.

Eagles LAX - Winter Session Clarification and Attached Calendar
Eagles,

We have received a fantastic response/signup for our Winter Session so far!  Even though it has started already, you can still sign up to participate if you have not signed up yet.

I would like to clarify the intent of our Winter Session for those of you that are new to our program.  We treat it like "Spring Training" - With limited days to get ready (and in-shape) for a sport that requires our athletes to be in tip-top shape and to also wield a stick like a magician, we have found it extremely useful to provide this opportunity for those athletes that are not competing in a Winter Sport to ready themselves for the rigors of the upcoming Lacrosse Season.

We are excited to hold our first Winter Practice at the Edge this upcoming Saturday, the 7th!!!  Please be there early so you are dressed (in full gear including cleats) and can hit the field right at 10:00AM.  We only have the field less than 2 hours and want to make the most of it!  It is located at 4450 Denrose Ct, Fort Collins, CO 80524

I have attached winter/spring schedule/calendar that you can print off and hang on your refrigerator.  Please note that some of those game times/dates in the spring may change as our schedule gets finalized.  I will mail out the most up to date schedule right before our season starts.

Remember, every day you work on lacrosse/speed/agility/strength training is a day you distance yourself from your competition!  Do whatever it takes to become better and honor the game!

GO EAGLES!

Winter Session Kickoff
Eagles,

We kick off our Winter Session this week starting with the Parents/Players/Coaches Meeting Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30pm in the TVHS Library.

Since our program is undergoing a bit of change this year, it is VERY IMPORTANT that all families have some representation there as we have some important information to present to all Eagles' Families!  Especially Seniors!  We would love to see y'all there!

Winter Speed/Agility Conditioning and 3X3 starts Thursday, December 5th from 6:30-8:30 at Sarah Milner Elementary School (in the Gym).  All that's needed are helmets/lids/gloves and non-marking tennis shoes (since it's snowy out, please wear a different pair of shoes into the school and bring your tennis shoes to change into so we can limit the amount of cleanup the janitor needs to do, please).

If you have not signed up yet for Winter Session, go here - http://www.lovelandlacrosse.com/Registration/Default.asp?n=43261&org=lovelandlacrosse.com

If you have any questions, please contact me!  Reminder, I will not reply on Sundays since that is the day CHSAA has deemed a no-contact day for coaches and players.

Thankful,
Coach Steve

Last Minute Fundraising Opportunity

Eagles Lacrosse parents and players,

There is a last minute opportunity to earn some money for your registration fees and/or your spring break fees this weekend at the Bud Event Center.  There are games on Friday and Saturday and they need help at both.  Here is the note from our contact

We are in need of more help this weekend.

If you have anyone that would like to work please let me know

Hockey is a 5pm arrival on Fri and Saturday

If you are able to work these games and are at least 16 years old, go to our webpage and sign up!  Plan on being there a little before 5pm in case you need to fill out any extra paperwork or get some training.  If you are wondering if this is really worth it, here is a note from one of our parents who's son has worked several events at the BEC and has earned over $500

"Zach started working at the Bud Center around the first of April this spring. He worked 6 different times and I was shocked how fast we earned money for lax. If parents work as well that is twice or thrice (if both parents go) the money that goes into your lax account.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm always getting hit with needing money at school for this or that and adding a spring break trip cost is not in everyone's budget. This is a very easy way to offset that cost and the costs of spring season.

To get started sign up and connect with Mindy! There is some paperwork that has to be filled out for the Bud Center that you take with you the first time you work."
