2020 Season Update
First and foremost we hope that everyone is safe and healthy while trying to enjoy some of the summer in this unprecedented time.
Yesterday, the Governors’ office and the IHSA put out their guidelines for the upcoming fall sports season to include youth, school, club, and high school sports.  Looking at the guidance for football, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 fall football and competitive cheer seasons. The IHSA hopes to reschedule football in the spring, and the Wildcats hope to follow suit.
At a meeting last night, River Valley, our youth football league, has voted to start a Spring season on February 22, 2021 with practices.  The season is currently slated to end on May 1, 2021 with a Super Bowl.  We know that this change of season will present conflicts for many families with baseball, softball and a variety of other sports and activities. We will do our best to work with other organizations to accommodate scheduling as much as we can.  While we know the weather will be cold, Wildcats are exploring inside venues to practice until the weather warms up.
With the support of the River Valley Football League as well as the Frankfort Square Park District we hope to set forth a plan that should at least help the sting of no fall football this year.
Though nothing is officially scheduled we hope to provide opportunities for our football players and cheerleaders as outlined below:
  1.  We hope to offer conditioning sessions for all registered football players and cheerleaders this fall while maintaining no person to person contact. Days and times TBD, but we will try to align these to coincide with typical practice days and times
  2. There will be no charge for fall conditioning provided you are already registered for the upcoming season.
  3. We will continue to follow and enforce all Frankfort Square Park District safety guidelines
We will be working closely with the park district to stay in compliance and follow their recommendations and policies throughout.
All of these points above can only happen with your help and remaining compliant while at these conditioning sessions.  As has been seen recently, these guidelines can change quickly and we would ask that you be patient and know that we are working to have the athletes best interest in mind, and keep you all abreast with any changes.
In the coming days you will receive a survey regarding your participation in the spring season and a few other questions that will help us to plan for the next 6-12 months. Please take a moment to complete this short survey too, as the results will be imperative to help us determine if and how we choose to move forward this spring.  If you should choose not to participate in the spring, a full refund will be given and we will welcome your athlete back in the fall.
Thank you for your time,
Frankfort Square Wildcat Board

Hello Wildcat Parents,

I hope you and your family are doing well. Just a short update about the football season. We are working closely with Frankfort Square Park District to make sure we are following what their risk management team expects out of us for this football season. The River Valley football league is closely monitoring what will transpire at the high school level. This is important because the IHSA is going to follow the guidelines set by  IDPH to ensure the safety of the athletes. Therefore, we will follow the same guidelines to the best of our capabilities. I want to reassure everyone that your child’s health and safety is the number one priority this year along with our supporters of the program. The season is slated to start the first or second week of August. This will be determined when the other organizations have solid answers from the high schools that they use during the season about their availability. When we have a solid start date information will go out immediately. I hope I addressed some of your questions and concerns. Thank you for your time.
