2020 Spring Season Registration

COVID-19 Update April, 7,2020

Hi WHYLL Families,

The board did meet last week and we voted unanimously to provide full refunds to all families as we can absorb the costs from this winter's facility rental and equipment.

At this point we are working on the mechanics of the refund as our systems are not exactly the best for this kind of thing. Our treasurer should have a plan within the week and we'll let you know how to expect your returns.

Please note, if we need to use the credit card service to refund money, there is likely a small administrative fee that will be deducted from the full amount. We hope this is not the case.

Some fo you may want to "roll" the funds toward next year. Unfortunately, that becomes even harder than the refund, and we'd ask simply that you register for next year when that opens up.  Some of you have asked to donate the money to the league. If that is your desire, we thank you in advance - please just confirm to   that this is what you want to do.

Everyone stay healthy and strong! We're grateful to be in a community like ours.

All the best,

Sam Smith

WHYLL President

COVID-19 Update March 27, 2020

Hello WeHa Lax Families,

Unfortunately, I must pass on some bad, but probably not unexpected news.  The town of West Hartford has made the decision to cancel all Spring programs and youth league events. You can see the note they put out below.

This is a very difficult time for all of us. I know both the coaches and especially the boys were excited for another great lacrosse season.  I am especially saddened for those players whose last year it was. We will get through this, and I have no doubt we will have an even better season next year with all the pent-up energy!  In the meantime, please have the boys hone their skills with wall ball or some social distanced passing.

Finally – refunds.  The board will meet (virtually) next week to see where our finances stand after our initial costs are covered for the season. We may also present the option of rolling your fee forward to next season, if that’s something you desire. Please expect a communication on this subject late next week.

Stay well all of you!

Sam Smith

COVID-19 Update March 12, 2020

Dear WHYLL Families,

It is clear that COVID-19 is significant enough that sports leagues and organizations at the national level have taken the difficult action of suspending their activities until the threat has passed.  While the board had initially intended to follow the lead of West Hartford Public Schools, we have reconsidered, and will unfortunately suspend all activities in the league until the public health crisis has passed.  The situation is obviously very fluid, and we will reevaluate our decision when appropriate.

The safety of your children and the welfare of their families is our highest priority. It saddens me that we’ve had to make this decision, but we all think this is in the best interest of the community.

I’m certain there will be questions about refunds.  If it becomes evident in the next couple of weeks that the board needs to cancel the season entirely, we will convene to discuss how much we can return after we cover any of our costs for clinics, tournaments, etc.

Please stay healthy and stay tuned.

All the best,

Sam Smith

WHYLL President
