March 17, 2020

The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the "coronavirus"), concerns about COVID-19 (the disease the virus causes), and the national, state, and local attempts to slow the pandemic via social distancing have put many – if not all – of our daily behaviors on hold for now.

We are looking forward to a time where our town fields are filled with our kids playing baseball. Where our games are surrounded by families and friends cheering our players on. Where the biggest worry is the unpredictable temperature at Gatchells, or whether the Shed has enough fried dough for the day, or whether the daylight will last long enough to get one more inning in.

But we will have to wait for that time to return. And all that we are certain about right now is that the timing for resumption of normal activities is very uncertain.

We expect that we will have baseball on our fields in 2020. That may mean a delayed start to a spring season, or it may mean a completely-different-looking schedule that extends into the summer. As we obtain clarity over the next weeks, we will begin to have a better idea of what the landscape will look like.

Until then, some obvious logistical announcements:

  • The final session of Winter Workouts on March 22 is cancelled;
  • The coaches' meeting scheduled for March 25 is postponed indefinitely;
  • All previously-scheduled Evaluations (7s on March 22, and 8s-12s over the weekend of March 28-29) are postponed indefinitely.

We will update you when we are able to – hopefully in early April. Until then, please stay safe and follow all recommended guidelines, to minimize the spread of the virus and its impact on our community. Thanks.
