HRYL COVID Policy Statement Herndon-Reston Youth Lacrosse, in partnership with coaches, players, and parents, provide the following covid safe-practice guidelines for the 2021 season. We truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together to provide a safe environment for all. Thank you.
MANDATES FOR ATHLETES
Players will wear a mask when entering and exiting the fields.
Players will wear a mask while not participating in drills or playing in a game. Players may wear a mask at all times, including during practices and games, but are not required to do so.
Players will practice social distancing when not participating in drills or playing in a game.
Players will refrain from high fives, handshake lines, and other physical contact with teammates, opposing players, coaches, officials, and fans.
Players will bring a personal water bottle which MUST be labeled with the player's name. Please do NOT share water bottles.
Players are highly encouraged not to touch their mouth guard once it has been placed in their mouth and to sanitize their hands after it has been touched.
If a player feels sick, please stay home.
If a player learns that he/she has come in contact with a positive Covid-19 individual, that player must promptly report that exposure to their Head Coach. At that point, the Head Coach, in conjunction with the Commissioner will determine the extent of the exposure and make the decision if quarantining is required for that player (or anyone else from the team that might’ve been exposed). Quarantining is 14 days away from team, players, coaches.
Coaches will be masked during all clinics, practices and games and maintain social distancing from players.
MANDATES FOR PARENTS / SPECTATORS
Parents and spectators will wear a mask at all times.
Parents and spectators will practice social distancing at all times.
Parents and spectators will not enter player areas during practices or games.
Parents and spectators will stay off the field of play at all times.
Parents and spectators will please use their best judgment when bringing senior citizens and others with health issues to the games.
If bleachers are available in game and practice locations, and allow for proper social distancing, please sit in the bleachers.
If bleachers are not available, please maintain social distancing and stay at least 10-feet from the sideline.
We very strongly recommend no more than two (2) spectators per player for clinics, practices or games.
Parents and spectators will please leave the field as soon as reasonably possible.
Post-play socializing or tailgating will not be allowed. No post-game snacks. 🙁
Parents are responsible for taking their player's temperature prior to each participation, and attesting that their player is not, and has not, experienced any covid or flu like symptoms in the past 48 hours.
MANDATES FOR COACHES
Coaches will wear a mask at all times.
Coaches will practice social distancing at all times.
Coaches will only work with their assigned team.
Coaches will refrain from high fives, handshake lines, and other physical contact with teammates, opposing players, coaches, officials, and fans.
Coaches will ensure that players are following covid prevention measures included herein.
Coaches will not allow post-game team snacks.
Coaches will not have a post-game team huddle.
Coaches will leave the field as soon as reasonably possible.
CONSEQUENCES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE
Any coach that blatantly fails to adhere to the league rules on social distancing and/or safety of their team/players during practices or games may be removed by the Commissioners. While inadvertent mistakes and/or lapses may occur, HRYL must promote and provide a safe environment for the players and their families.
Any player or coach found to knowingly disregard a recent contact with a positive Covid-19 patient/individual (by not notifying the Head Coach and Commissioner in a reasonable time (no more than 24 hours or the next practice/game…whichever comes first)) may be removed from the team for the remainder of the season and may not be offered any refunds.
The Commissioners and Head Coach have the authority to remove a coach/player/parent/spectator from the field of play or the bleachers or other viewing areas for “Covid Safety” violations. Such actions will only be taken in good faith and to provide a safe environment for the players and their families. Arguments or refusals to leave simply cannot be tolerated.
Let's continue to work together to keep our kids safe and playing lacrosse this spring.
Any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Commissioners.
THANK YOU!
