My name is Jared Marmen and I'm coaching your daughter's clinic basketball team. If this is your first year in the program, let me say welcome and congratulations, because rec basketball is by far the easiest sport for a parent. I coached two of my sons in clinic for four years, this is my first year coaching in the Wildcats Girls basketball program, and I'm looking forward to getting started!
We will always practice/play on Friday at the McFaul Center. Our first practice is scheduled for this Friday at 7:15, but I will likely have to cancel it. More on that below. At the first practice, each girl will receive a jersey and that is all they need to remember to bring every week. We are not allowed to bring any food or drinks into the gym, but there is a water fountain in the hall, so that is one less thing for you to remember.
The focus is on fundamentals and having fun and that is what we will do! I know from years past that things run more smoothly if there are two coaches on the court. It would be very helpful if one other parent would volunteer to help out at practice. If you can tie shoes and smile, you are qualified to be an assistant coach for clinic! You will need to go through a very simple online background check and get a badge at the McFaul center. I have done it, and it is painless.
I have a conflict for our first practice. My wife got us Hamilton tickets in Philly for Friday, she has been playing the soundtrack incessantly for weeks, and there is no chance I'm going to be able to miss that for practice. There is a small chance that we may get another time for this week, or that we have an assistant coach step up and get badged before Friday. Most likely, our first practice will be 11/22.
I will let you know as soon as I know for certain if anything changes for this week. Always go by what the team website says, and I will make sure it is always up to date.
If you have any questions, just shoot me an email.
