Revised Season Schedule

Parents,

I have sent the revised season schedule out through email -- please le tme know if you did not receive it. I have moved a number of our practices over to the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. The field is a pretty decent alternative to Twin Oaks and we shouldn’t have to fight too much for a section of it. The downside is that we will not have any lights, so all weekday practices at HNOJ are now at 5:00 pm so we have enough sunlight to finish practice safely. With that said, I am keeping our Wednesday evening practices at Field 4, Twin Oaks, at 6:00 pm. We will start practice in center field and transition onto the playing field at 6:30 when the previous T-ball practice ends. This is the time I had previously negotiated with the other managers and would like to stick to it so the kids can practice where they play.

Spring break is still optional, and all Saturday practices are optional. If you would like your child to get some extra at-bats or ground balls, we will be out there working for you. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Kevin

Season Schedule

Little Eagles Full Practice and Game Schedule

Team,

The season is fast approaching. This next week will be busy – we have practice on Tuesday at 6:00 pm (Field TBD), our first scrimmage on Thursday at 4:30 pm (Twin Oaks, Field 3) and the season opener on Saturday, 9 March, at 1:00 pm. We will take our team pictures before the game at 11:45 am – our showtime for this event will be 11:30 am. Please read through the additional attachments for instructions regarding photos. I will verify their location and update you before Saturday. Please make sure your child is ready for a 12:30 pm showtime at Field 3 for our pre-game warm-ups.

I’ve attached our consolidated season schedule. The posted times are the times players are expected to be at the designated field ready to play. On game days, our warm-up will start promptly 30 minutes prior to each game – the times in this schedule have been adjusted for your convenience. Practices will start immediately at the posted time. Please continue planning on a 1.5-hour commitment on practice days and a 2-hour commitment on game days. To help us run efficient program, please ensure that you are on time and your child is ready to play at the specified times.

I understand that spring break is a time that families might like to travel. The week of 18-23 March will be optional for all players. With that said, I am still planning on sticking to a regular practice schedule. Please let me know if you will be out of town on these days so we can adjust our practice plans accordingly.

At the end of the season, I would like to host a team BBQ for our team where we can celebrate the children’s achievements. I’ve tentatively set it for a week after our last game. We will update you as we step further into our plans. I believe that we are off to a great start this season. In just this short time, we have not only seen the kids develop in fundamental baseball skills, but also come together as a team. It’s been a blast so far and we are excited to step into our game schedule. Thank you for your hard work and your continuing effort to make this a great season for our children. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Saturday Practice

Team,

I appreciate the feedback I’ve received about Sunday practices. Because Sunday will be difficult for some familiest, I’ve decided to move our Sunday practices to Saturday in the same time slot and location until the season begins. After that I will make weekday practices a priority, with a Saturday practice only falling on the weeks we are playing two weekday games. Since this is a short notice change I’d like to make this weekend optional for all players. I will be out at the park on both days and you may come to either session, or both of you like.

Tomorrow’s practice (2/22) will be focusing on offense. Please make sure to bring your bats and helmets.

Revised practice Schedule

Team,

We will be starting our practices at the times listed in this table. NVLL only allots each team exactly 1 hour on each field because we are sharing fields 3, 4, and 11 with 16 other teams (Minors C + T-ball). Because our practices are designed to fit in 1.5 hour blocks, we will begin practice just off the field we are assigned, then move onto the field once the other team leaves. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Practice Schedule

Practice Schedule_2-15_3-7

Team,

Here is our practice schedule for the next 3 weeks leading into opening day. Please review and let me know if you are unable to make any dates. Our schedule should be somewhat similar following opening day. An aerial view of Twin Oaks is also provided to help us coordinate our practice location. I'll post an update as to which field we will be on for the days listed as "Twin Oaks Field TBD". Please be ready with any questions or concerns you have for the season.

See you tomorrow!

Kevin

First Practice

Parents,

Our first practice will be at 4:45 pm this Friday, 15 February, at Twin Oaks. The league will publish a master schedule that will cover the next 2 weeks that they should be delivering on soon... until then, it will be a free-for-all. With that said, there is no gaurantee that we will have a field available and we may need to shift to the grassy area on/around the soccer fields. Our plan for our first meeting is to hold an introductory meeting with parents, cover administrative issues, and field any questions/concerns. This should take 10-15 minutes. The players will breakout with our assistant coaches to warm up and throw the ball. After the parent meeting, we will then proceed with practice for the following 45 minutes so we can close out by approximately 5:45 pm.

Please respond ASAP if you cannot make it on Friday -- email, or text are both fine. Given the short notice, it is okay if your child doesn't have everything he or she needs for the season. The main thing is that the kids can meet and we can break the ice a bit. See you soon.

Welcome to NVLL Minors C Coach Pitch
Parents and Players,

Welcome to NVLL Minors C Coach Pitch! My name is Kevin Farley and I will be your coach this season. With me are our assistant coaches Matt Elmore and Rob Gutierrez. Together, we have over 30 years of experience on or around the ball field, and we are excited to have this opportunity to instruct your child. Our aim this season is to develop a firm foundation of fundamental baseball, good sportsmanship, and competitive spirit, and to also inspire a life-long love for the game. We expect to have fun in this pursuit while building on other lifelong skills such as team work, and stick-to-itiveness. Safety for our children will always be our number one priority.

You can expect to have no more than two games per week with one or two practices in-between. I plan on developing the schedule as soon as I get more information from the league and I hope to release it soon. All updates regarding the team roster, game/practice schedule, and new bulletins will be published on the NVLL website. Please ensure that you check in regularly for any/all updates.

In the meantime, please make sure that your child is equipped for the season. They should have, at a minimum, a glove, cleats, a water bottle, and practice attire (baseball pants, an athletic shirt, and a hat). The league will provide our game uniforms in the upcoming weeks. If you plan on buying a bat for your child, please ensure that it meets USA-bat guidelines. You can find bat information on the NVLL website under League Info—LL Bat Information.

Administrative: For our first practice, please come prepared with (1) a copy of your child’s medical release form. This form will keep us informed on how to help your child in the event of an emergency. Please also address any additional safety needs that we should be aware of. (2) If you would like to volunteer to be the team parent, or as an additional practice hand, we are glad to have you. To facilitate this, you will need to fill out the volunteer application located on the NVLL website (and let me know you’re interested!)  Important documents can be found under League Info—Documents. I also encourage parents to be familiar with Little League Rules as well as NVLL Local Rules / Regulations. The coaches and I will cover other need-to-know information for parents at the conclusion of our first practice.

Together, through our joint effort, we can make this season a fun, fulfilling and memorable experience. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. I encourage all parents to facilitate your child’s growth in this sport – whether it’s just talking through baseball rules and game situations at home, or just playing catch and swinging the bat – anything you can do with your child is value added and will help ensure their life-long love for the game. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
