Stompers 12B - Finalists of Capitol Sports Fastpitch Tournament

Capitol Sports Fastpitch Tournament Finalists

This past weekend, Stompers 12B participated in the Capitol Sports Fastpitch Tournament in Incline Village and Tahoe City.  In their first game, Stompers won a very close game against ABGSL Sting 2-1.  In their next game, Stompers heated up their bats and mercy-ruled Rohnert Park Rebels 13-1. For their last game on Saturday, Stompers continued to dominate with their bats and defense to come away with a shut-out mercy-rule win of 10-0 against San Ramon Slammers.  Seeded 1st for Sunday, Stompers played Roseville Thunder in the quarter-final game.  Stompers advanced to the semi-final game with a 12-4 win over Roseville Thunder. In the semi-final game, Stompers played again against San Ramon Slammers. Both teams played well and were tied 4-4 at the end of regulation time.  Going into an extra inning to determine a winner, visiting Slammers started the last inning with a runner on 2nd base following the tie-breaker rules. Slammers were able to score that runner to lead the game 5-4. However, Stompers still had their turn at bat.  Stompers also put a runner on 2nd base to start the inning, and was able to score 2 runs in this extra inning to come away with a nail-biting victory of 6-5!  The Stompers were now on to the championship game, which was their 5th championship game of the summer. This was their 3rd game in a row for this warm Sunday without much of a break. Stompers met up with MVLA Novas in the Championship game. Both teams played their hearts out with great hitting and defense. Stompers came up a little short losing this final game 7-10.  With a 26-6 record, 4 1st place finishes and 1 second place finish, Stompers can only be proud of how they played this summer!

Stompers 12B - Champions of Panthers Fastpitch Tournament

Panthers Fastpitch Tournament Champions

On Sunday, July 19,  Stompers 12B won the Panthers Fastpitch Tournament.  Stompers started out with a 9-10 loss to Pleasanton Phantom in their opening game of the tournament.  EC Diehards were the Stompers next opponent and Stompers had two 5-run innings to come out with 10-3 win.  For their third game, Stompers played Roseville Thunder, and with great hitting and strong defense were able to defeat Roseville 16-1.  Seeded 4th in the tournament, Stompers played the 5th seed San Lorenzo Heat in their quarter-final game.  Another awesome hitting and defensive performance put the Stompers into the semis with a 18-3 victory over San Lorenzo. In the semi-final, Stompers met up once again with Pleasanton Phantom. This time Stompers earned the victory with the score of 10-2.  Now Stompers made it to the Championship game just as the team has done in 4 out of the 5 tournaments they have participated in this summer.  Stompers met Pleasant Hill Panthers in the Championship game.  The game was very close in the first 3 innings with Pleasant Hill taking the lead 3-2.  However, Stompers heated up their bats and scored 7 runs in the 4th inning to take a 10-3 lead. A few more runs were scored by each team, but the Stompers were able to triumph after 5 innings in the heat with a 13-7 final score.

Stompers 12B - Champions of Pleasanton Summer Classic

Pleasanton Summer Classic Champions
On Saturday, July 4, Stompers 12B opened the tournament playing Pleasant Hill Panthers. Stompers won this first game 12-2. Pleasanton Phantom was the Stompers second opponent of the day, and Stompers lost a very close game to Phantom 5-6. Despite the loss, Stompers ended up being ranked first in their group. On Sunday, Stompers came out strong in their quarter-final game, beating San Lorenzo Heat 16-2.  Next up, Stompers met the San Carlos Force in the semi-final game. The game was tied 3-3 after 3 innings, but then the Stompers turned on the heat scoring 8 runs in the 4th inning. Stompers won this game handily 11-3. Advancing to the championship game, Stompers were very motivated to win their third tournament. Stompers played against the MVLA Nova in the championship game. Nova scored first and went ahead 2-0 in the first 2 innings. Stompers were able to tie it up 2-2 after the 3rd inning, and then go ahead by 1 run for a score of 3-2 in the 4th inning.  In the 7th inning, Nova was able to tie up the game at 3-3. However, since Stompers were the home team, they had the last at bat.  With 2 outs, Stompers scored to be able to pull out the win with a 4-3 final score!

Stompers 12B - Champions of Del Holson Tournament

Del Holson Tournament Champions

Stompers 12B won the Del Holson Fastpitch Softball Tournament on June 21. On Saturday, Stompers beat the Benicia Outlaws 10-2, beat the San Lorenzo Heat 12-1, and lost to the Vallejo Hurricanes 3-12.  Seeded second for Sunday, Stompers played the San Lorenzo Heat again, but this time in the quarter-finals. Stompers won this quarter-final game 6-1.  Stompers moved on to the semi-final and beat Union City Fury in a very close game 8-7.  The Stompers met Vallejo Hurricanes again and this time in the championship game. It was a 3-hour long game of endurance in the heat, and the Stompers triumphed with a 29-19 win!

Stompers 12B - Champions of Livermore Smoke Memorial Tournament

Livermore Smoke Memorial Day Champions
Stompers 12B won the Livermore Smoke Memorial Day tournament.  On Saturday, Stompers beat Livermore Smoke 10-4, lost to Almaden Lightning 14-5 and beat the Pleasant Hill Panthers 11-1.  Seeded second for Sunday, Stompers played Pleasant Hill Panthers in the semi-finals and won 7-0.  The Stompers met Almaden Lightning again and this time in the championship game, and came out strong!   Stompers won 14-2.
