After 20 Years of Service WAA President Retires

Hello WAA family. As you may or may not have heard, I have stepped down as President of WAA.

2019 was my 20th year as a volunteer in some capacity, starting out as a T-Ball Asst Commissioner in 1999 and then holding a variety of positions and performing whatever tasks needed doing.

I'll cherish my time spent at the ball fields watching thousands of Webster kids play the greatest game on Earth. So many of you through the years have thanked me and every single time it felt wonderful, although I've never done it for the thank-yous. There were so many people throughout my 20 years in WAA that helped organize and run the program, and I am thankful for every one of them.

Every so often I will run into a young man or woman who remembers me from their WAA days and says hello. Honestly, I think that is my favorite part of being in WAA. During the last few T-Ball Opening Day events, I have met former players who are now parents themselves and have kids in WAA! What a great feeling.

My family has nothing but wonderful memories of our time spent watching and playing and I hope the same is true with your family. We have decided to move south so that we can all remain physically close to each other.

Alan Dungey has graciously offered to accept the role of President. A big part of this job is remembering to keep it a program for the kids and to try and ensure ALL of the kids deserve a chance to learn and enjoy the game. I know in my heart that Al is more than capable of leading this great organization and fulfilling this role.

I hope that I was able to honor the game and the organization in a way that would make those before me proud. It was always in my mind that many others worked their butts off to create this great program before me and darn if I was going to tarnish their work.

I will miss the great friends I've made, all of the relationships that were built, and especially T-Ball Opening Day 2020. Thank you, everyone! Keep on playing ball!

Sincerely,
Tom Bellucco
