First off, we hope all is well and that everyone is safe. The past several weeks have been unprecedented and certainly overwhelming for many. COVID-19 has changed our lives and caused a great deal of uncertainty across the board in all aspects of life.
At this time, there has been no definitive cancellation of the spring soccer season from CJSA or US Soccer. There have been multiple teams in surrounding towns that have gone ahead and cancelled the spring season given the information we have presently. With this in mind, the Canton Youth Soccer Board met this past week, and has decided to cancel the Spring soccer season. There is no clear date in sight to resume social gatherings - and this contributed greatly to our decision. We are hopeful that we can put together a soccer session during the summer, if given the opportunity.
We are currently discussing the easiest way to refund registration fees. It appears as if it will take anywhere from 7-10 days for the transaction to occur for travel soccer players, once this plan is initiated. FVL players will receive a check from Canton Soccer. We are hoping to begin refunding payments next week.
Prior to COVID-19, we had set the FALL travel assessment dates as June 14th and June 15th. At this time, we will keep these dates and make changes as necessary. We will keep you up to date with any changes made to these plans in future emails. Thank you for your patience, as we all work to navigate thru these crazy times!
Be well, stay safe, and keep playing soccer safely!!
Effective immediately and with direction from US Youth Soccer and the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA), all CYSA soccer activities will be suspended through April 15th. This includes: team games, practices, tournaments, and in-person meetings. We believe that this is a necessary action to help promote social distancing within our community. Stay healthy and we hope to see you soon!
