Congrats to Mid-Season Champs

Congratulations to the Hilltopper varsity team as they won the Rio Grande High School Hockey League mid-season tournament.  The Hilltoppers defeated Durango, Amarillo, and Cibola to make it to the Championship game on Sunday against Telluride.  The kids were up to the challenge as Telluride previously defeated the Toppers in December 6-4 and 6-2. The Toppers won with 1.7 seconds left in the 5 min 3v3 overtime period thanks to a goal by Conner Cook. Congrats Toppers!

HOCKEY PRACTICE CANCELLED ON MONDAY, JAN. 20

LAHA MEMBERS,

We normally do not have practice on a holiday.  With new people in positions that managed the schedule, they were not told this and we scheduled practices.  We spoke with the rink management and they are going to have open skate from 12 noon to 5 PM.  So, no practice this next Monday, Matrin Luther King Day.

STILL NEED HELP AT ELKS CLUB WITH FUND RAISER SATURDAY

LAHA MEMBERS,

I am asking for more help for the fund raiser for LAHA on Saturday at the Elks Club.  They need our help with the serving and cleanup.  Here is Steve Remde's email requesting both the managers contact him that he gave tickets to.  Thank you for your help.

Hi Bob,

Can you ask the team managers that took tix to get in touch with me to give me a head count of sales. Also, I'd like to get the sales sheets and funds prior to Saturday's event.  I will be at the Lodge tomorrow evening and early on Saturday. You may give them my phone number as well, 500-0289.

Was there any luck with volunteers to help with service and clean up?

Thanks,

Steve

2ND NUCLEAR SHOOTOUT STARTS TOMORROW!

LAHA MEMBERS,

Don't forget that the subject starts tomorrow afternoon at the rink.  It is very important for us to support this tournament.  You can purchase an all tournament pass at the door.  They also need help with the score boxes.  In addition don't forget the fund raiser Saturday afternoon that all the money less the cost of the goods goes to LAHA.  See our website for more information.

LAHA'S HOLIDAY HOCKEY FESTIVAL 2019 A GREAT SUCCESS!!

LAHA MEMBERS,

The sujbect festival (Elks as title sponsor again) was a great success as you can see below.  We want to thank Jacqueline Nolen, Festival Director, a great thank you again for the second year.

Here are the results:

There were 5 mites teams, Taos, NMAHA, NMICE (1 and 2), and Los Alamos.

There were 2 peewee teams, Los Alamos and NMAHA. They played 5 games, the NMAHA Scorpions winning 4 and tying 1. The Los Alamos peewees had a coach vs peewee scrimmage, with a few squirts joining the peewees to beat the coaches.

The second half of the festival had Los Alamos mini mites (Atoms) vs NMICE minis. It was cold (12 degrees) but they had a great time playing. The NMAHA Scorpions squirts played the Los Alamos squirts. Los Alamos lost 3 of the 4 games. There were games with snow on the rink that fell during play and one night the temperature dropped to 8 degrees. The other teams all had a great time playing in these extreme conditions.

We had a raffle tickets for $1 each. Raffled off was a Solar Lamp (picture at top of page) that was donated by Metzgers and a 10 punch skating sharpening from Hand Precision. Winning was Leah Dolan, from NMAHA and the skate sharpening went to Kale Johnson of Los Alamos.

The pictures are from the coaches vs peewee games.

We also want to thank our sponsors again for their funding and future funding (Elks dinner this next Saturday). They are

Elks Club

NMB&Trust

Century Bank & Trust

Posada Dental Works

Metzgers Hardware Stores

Please thank them if you go into their place of business.
