Registration for Spring Baseball & Softball

Registration for spring baseball/softball will begin on January 1, 2020 and run through March 1, 2020. Registration is open to Bedford and Hanscome AFB residents. The spring season starts in mid-April and will run through about the 2nd week of June. 

All Spring programs will be open for registration during this time. A discounted "early bird" registration will end after February 14, 2020. Regular prices will then be in effect until March 1, 2020. After March 1, registration will be open as space is available, with a late-fee.

Winter baseball/softball clinics for grades 3-6 will also open for registration on January 1, 2020, and will remain open through March 23, 2020.

2020 Spring T-Ball Baseball

Co-ed introduction - in a fun learning environment - to the great sport of Baseball.  Focus is on relaxed teaching of the basic rules and skills of the sport.   Players hit off a tee.  We use a safety ball that is softer than a regular baseball but is about the same weight and size as a regular baseball.  

  • Registration is open to all Bedford and Hanscom AFB residents in Kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year. 
  • The season starts in mid-April and goes to about the 2nd week of June.  
  • Normal game days are Monday and Wednesday.
  • Players arrive between 5:30 and 5:45 pm and stay typically until about 7:00 pm. 
  • The cost for this program:  $125 ($110+ $15 field user fee)

2020 Spring Farm Baseball

Farm Baseball is a step up from T-Ball where players learn to hit with their own coaches pitching to them.  They continue to learn correct fielding and throwing technique as well as learning to hit a pitched ball.  This is done in a fun atmosphere with a focus on learning to love the game!

  • Registration is open to all Bedford and Hanscom AFB residents in 1st and 2nd grades for the 2019-20 school year.
  • The season starts in mid-April and goes until about the 2nd week of June.
  • Normal game days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, with one weekend practice.
  • The cost for this program: $125 ($110 + $15 field user fee).

2020 Spring National Baseball

National League baseball is the next step up in baseball.  Beginning at this level players, rather than coaches, will be pitching to their opponents.  They continue to develop their fielding, throwing, and hitting technique as well as learning to correctly play specific game situations.  Scores and standings are kept with a playoff at the end of the season to determine the league championship.  Teams are formed by a draft following a player tryout.  All registered players are placed on a team. 

  • Registration is open to all Bedford and Hanscom AFB residents in the 3rd grade, regardless of whether they are 8 or 9 years old (as of 4/30/2020). Also 9 and 10 years old (as of 4/30/2020) 4th graders may also play in National League, but they need to be registered in the 2020 Spring American, Atlantic, or National program.
  • The season starts in mid-April and goes to about the 2nd week of June.
  • Normal game days are Monday and Wednesday (some Friday and Saturday evenings) with one weekend practice.

2020 Spring American, Atlantic, or National Baseball

Baseball players aged 9 (in 4th grade), 10, 11, and 12 (as of 4/30/2020) are eligible to play in the American, Atlantic, or National Leagues. These players will attend a combined tryout. First, players age 10, 11, and 12 will be drafted into the American League. Next, players age 9 (in 4th grade), 10, 11, and 12 will be drafted into the Atlantic League. Finally, players age 9 and 10 (in 4th grade) may be drafted into the National League with all of the 3rd grade players.  Scores and standings are kept with a playoff at the end of the season to determine the league champion.

  • Registration is open to all Bedford and Hanscom AFB residents in 4th grade for the 2019-20 school year, and ages 10, 11, and 12 (as of 4/30/20).

Babe Ruth Baseball  is for players who are between the ages of 13 and 16 years-old as of April 30, 2020.  Bedford Babe Ruth will have Bedford based teams for Spring play, but the playing options will be dependent on the number of registered players and their ages and level of play. Games will likely not begin until April 25th or later and games and any practices will be scheduled to avoid conflicts with participation on Middle School and High School Teams.

  • Registration is open to all Bedford and Hanscom AFB residents between the ages of 13-16 years old (by 4/30/20).
  • Games will start on or after April 25th and goes until about the 2nd week of June.
  • The cost of this program is: $180 ($165 + $15 field fee).

  • The season starts in mid-April and goes to abou the 2nd week of June.
  • Games generally Friday night and Sat/Sun, and are scheduled to not conflict with Middle School and High School teams.

2020 Volunteers

Please indicate whether you'll be able to help out with any of our special events or be a manager, coach, or scorekeeper for any of our teams.  All managers, coaches, and scorekeepers working with children need to have a CORI check done per Massachusetts state law.  These volunteers will need to complete a CORI form and present it to an authorized Bedford Babe Ruth official along with a picture ID.  Thank you for volunteering your time.

2020 Umpire Application

Players or former players in grade 7 and up are eligible to apply to be umpires for the 2020 season.  An email address must be entered for the umpire's registration record.  This will be used when connecting to the umpire section of the website.  Umpire's cell phone numbers, as well as parent's email address and cell phone numbers, are requested as well.  If a cell phone service provider is selected, umpires will be able to receive text messages from the website regarding game cancellations or schedule changes.

BBRBS will be running weekly clinics at TC's Training Center. These weekly clinics are open to baseball and softball players of all skill levels in grades 2-6. The clinics run on Monday nights from 6pm - 8pm beginning January 6th until March 23rd.

Each clinic will run for 2 hours and encompasses the skills, both basic and advanced, needed for a player's development. 

The fee for each clinic will be $10 per player. You son or daughter can sign up for as many clinics as they like. Participation is limited to 20 players per clinic. Walk ups will no be allowed to play, all players must register through the BBRBS website.

Players should arrive to the clinics in sneakers, baseball/softball or sweat pants, and with their gloves. If your player has their own bat and helmet they should bring them too. TC's does have bats and helmets onsite, free of charge for those children who don't have them.
