1st – 2nd Grade (Boys & Girls)

This is an instructional league. The goal of this program is to introduce basketball to the children. We want to the emphasis on the skills necessary to play basketball, basketball rules, and sportsmanship.  We will be following the USA Youth Basketball Player Development Curriculum.  (Combination of Introductory/Foundation Level)  Coaches will referee and provide instruction during any game play. Hoops will be adjusted as the season progresses to build children’s confidence.  A smaller basketball will also be used for this group (27.5").  All games and practices will be on Saturday only.

3rd -4th Grade (Boys & Girls)

In-house program - This program is focused on providing the children with their first experience with basketball.  Coaches continue to develop fundamentals such as dribbling and passing along with incorporating offensive and defensive positioning.  We will be following the USA Youth Basketball Player Development Curriculum. (Foundation Level)  PIAA referees will officiate games using modified PIAA rules.

Travel program - The travel program is for those boys and girls interested in playing basketball at a higher level skill. Boys and girls complete “tryouts” for each grade level and teams are selected based upon the results of the tryouts and availability of coaches. Boys and girls interested in the travel teams must participate in the In-house program to be eligible. Additional practices along with a 20+ game season are part of the experience.  There is an additional charge if the child is selected for the travel team(s).  A volunteer requirement for the parents is part of this program. Travel is local (within 45 minutes of Franklin Regional). All home games will be played at a Franklin Regional School facility.
