SOUTH METRO YOUTH SPORTS
South Metro Youth Football
South Metro Youth Sports (SMYS) offers a football program for young athletes that supports our high school areas of Littleton, Heritage, Arapahoe, Kennedy, Lincoln and Sheridan High Schools. We also serve the communities of Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village and South Denver.
Our league is part of the Jefferson County Midget Football Association (JMFA) and plays against other participating areas including: Alameda, Arvada, Bear Creek, Englewood, Golden, Green Mountain, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, Mountain Area, North Metro, South Jeffco, Standley Lake and Wheat Ridge.
Age levels 7-14 can participate in our program. League play begins at 2nd grade. Players will be placed on teams based on their grade for the year of play. Age groups for play are: 2nd grade (7), 3rd grade (8), 4th grade (9), 5th grade (10), 6th grade (11), 7th grade (12), Seniors 8th grade (13-14). At no time will a player be allowed to play up or down in grade.
JMFA sponsors an end of season tournament leading up to the County Championship game, (Carnation Bowl).
At SMYS we are also required by JMFA to separate teams according to area boundaries. These boundaries can be found on the JMFA webpage at http://www.jeffcofootball.com. Players choosing to cross boundaries must obtain a waiver from the Director of Football from both areas and then have it approved by the JMFA sitting president prior to registration.
Teams are formed by a draft after the final day of walk-in registrations. We make an effort to form new 7-year-old teams from neighborhood groups and school, but offer no guarantee of your child landing on a specific team. All returning players in all other age groups are returned to their previous teams and then the process of distributing new players and players electing to leave their previous teams are entered into the draft.
Each year we follow the same general timeline for registration, weigh-ins, team selection and game schedules. Dates will be posted soon!

We reserve the right to close age groups as they fill up at the discretion of the Director of Football. If this is the case, we may try and place your player on another area team. Please return your registration early.
A copy of the players state birth certificate is required, if one is not on file at the SMYS office. If one is not on file, you must provide a copy during registrations. In addition, proof of grade will need to furnished by a report card, CSAP report, Tera Nova report, CoGat report, Parent Portal print out of grade or family listing.
Every player must have a written certificate from their doctor releasing the child for contact sports prior to participating in practice and/or games. There will be a walk-in date for physicals, which is announced during registrations.
