Hi everyone,
I hope you and your budding football stars are as excited as the Portsmouth Flag Football coaches to begin the season! The aim of the Portsmouth Youth Flag Football league is to teach 1st and 2nd graders football basics within a fun and safe practice and game framework.
There is one major change this season, and that’s the location of the practices and games, which are moving to Greenland where we were able to reserve larger and higher-quality fields.
Here is some more information about the upcoming season:
Practice Times
- Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 until 6:30 starting Sept. 8th
- Please be sure your player is well hydrated before coming to practice
Practice and Game Location
Greenland Recreation Field on Post Rd/Rt 151 in Greenland — coming from Portsmouth on Route 33, take a left at the traffic light near the Dunkin’ Donuts onto Post Rd and travel 1/2 mile; the fields are on the left just beyond the Greenland Central School (on right) and town green/bandstand (on left), and marked by a small sign on left “Greenland Recreation Fields”

Team Assignments
- Players will be assigned to a team during the first week of practice.
- At the end of the first week, you will receive an email with your child’s team assignment and coaches’ contact information
Game Schedule
- Games will be played on Saturdays starting at two times (four teams): 9:30am or 10:45am at the Greenland Rec Field.
- A detailed game schedule will be published after the first week of practice concludes.
Rain Policy
We do not practice or play in the rain. If the weather is bad, practice and/or games will be cancelled.
Equipment
Players just need sports shoes and athletic clothing (shorts/sweat pants, and shirts). Molded-plastic cleats are permitted, but not required.
Flag belts (w/3 velcro flags) are provided to each player by PYF. Game jerseys will be provided by PYF prior to the first game, and players get to keep them as souvenirs at the end of the season.
