Travel Frequently Asked Questions
The mission of CSA Travel division is to promote a positive competitive travel soccer culture in Calvert County, to challenge the youth soccer player to demand excellence of themselves through advanced technical and athletic development and to compete with sportsmanship at the highest level.
1.  Why should I consider travel soccer for my player?

Travel Soccer is a unique opportunity for a player to enjoy advanced coaching, experience and competition. Travel teams train year round, seek to provide progressive individual and team development and challenge each player to advance his/her game. For the dedicated soccer player that aspires to play at the high school level and beyond, the travel soccer experience is vital.

2.  Why should I choose CSA over other county soccer programs?

Calvert Soccer Association (CSA) is the only soccer program that holds Calvert County based charters.   We have been established since 1984 and have demonstrated player-centered  community based programs.   CSA works diligently to keep fees low to allow reasonable access to travel soccer. Our professional coaches have advanced licenses and bring years of expertise to the field. Finally, CSA has long standing relationships with DC United, Coerver Camps, Challenger British Soccer Camps, Three Lions Soccer, Skipjack Soccer, MSYSA, Adidas and other select soccer partners to enrich every players soccer experience.

 3.  What leagues do CSA teams participate in?   Where are games played?

CSA current charters include the National Capitol Soccer League (NCSL), Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), Baltimore Beltway Soccer League (BBSL), Central Maryland Select Soccer League (CMSSL), and Tri County Futsal (winter).

Most schedules average four home and four away games per season. Away games are located within league boundaries.
4.  How expensive is it to participate in travel soccer?
Travel soccer costs are determined by League fees, MSYSA fees, CSA fees and any Team related fees, including paid coaches and trainers (costs vary). Most travel teams attend tournaments locally and away. Some teams also participate in off season activities during winter and summer. All costs are divided equally amongst the players on the teams roster.

 5.  When can a player join?   When are try-outs?

CSA club-wide travel try-outs will be held each year the first or second week in June.    The travel team roster is developed for fall and spring seasons with player changes only as needed. Many travel teams with open roster slots allow mid-season try-outs, so contact travel coaches directly at other times of the year.
