Where these Teams Play
www.PCAHA.ca in the Vancouver, B.C. area.
This league allows our teams the greatest range of competition and ensures they are playing against similarly talented teams which allows for the greatest player development. The PCAHA league has multiple levels of teams and has eight placement games (four home and four away) at the start of the season to determine which teams will compete in which level.
Each week they have one home game on the weekend and one away game. The goal is to have the away games on the weekend also but occasionally teams will be heading to Vancouver on a week night. The team schedulers are trained with tips/tricks to help ensure that the number of mid-week games is kept as low as possible and the team budget will include items to assist with that also.
The season is broken into three parts. There is a 4 week assignment schedule consisting of 8 games. The results of those games determine the flight that a team is placed into. The lower the number, the tougher the competition.
After teams are placed into a flight, the league consists of two sections of 10 games each. After the first 10 games the divisions are reevaluated and some teams may be moved up or down to ensure they are playing against similar competition.
These teams also participate in tournaments locally and the occasional tournament that requires air travel.
The PCAHA league typically ends in Feb and our teams have the option of playing in the PCAHA President's Series or playing exhibition games and/or attending tournaments.
At the end of the year the older teams will participate in the USA Hockey championship series of tournaments. See www.PNAHA.com or www.USAHockey.com for the latest information.
Team selection sessions are typically in August. A schedule, cost and registration information will be posted on this website.
Players need to pre-register and pay for the tryouts online.
What if my player is unavailable for the Tryouts?
If your player is unable to attend tryouts due to injury, illness, travel or hockey tryouts or schools you must inform the hockey director and request an exception.
How much does it cost to play on these teams?
In addition to association program fees and obligations team member families can anticipate to pay for the following:

Fundraising opportunities are available to help offset some of these costs.

How are players selected?
There are selection sessions run by the teams’ coaches and they have the final word on who makes the teams but they have input from last years coaches and from outside evaluators and the Sno-King Hockey Directors who are in attendance at the tryouts.
