2016 Black 8th Grade Team Knocks Off 3-Time Defending Champs To Earn D-I Gold at 2011 Districts

This  The Matrix 2016 Black National team won the 7th Grade Division I DQT on May 22, defeating PSPA 79-67.

The Matrix 2016 Black team shot the lights out in the first half of the championship game to take a 46-21 halftime lead.  The Matrix were lead by the hot shooting of Nia Washington (31 points) and Jada Graves (21 points) as well as the rebounding and shot blocking of Maddy Reed.

As great teams do, PSPA made their run in the second half but never got closer than 9 points as the Matrix held strong to pull out the victory over PSPA, 79-67.  This PSPA team, which moved over from the Vogues this season, was a 3-time champion that had never lost a Potomac Valley DQT game.

Congratulations to Coach McConnell and the 2016 Black team.  Click here to read a complete write-up on the 2016 Black gold medal run.
