We are in the process of planning a summer league for the Herndon - Reston - Sterling area starting in June 2013. Please monitor this web page for additional information.
ALL GAMES ARE PLAYED INDOORS
OBJECTIVE: Continue playing the game of basketball, get in some extra practice and games, work on skills in order to be better prepared for Fall/Winter season and HAVE FUN!
Teams are welcome to participate. Indicate on the registration your team and the coach if provided.
Participants will be grouped by age in ranges, for example. 3/4 grade, 5/6 grade, etc.
Where possible participants will be grouped by skill level. This will give them the opportunity to work on skill sets that apply to the entire team and therefore each individual player will be able to learn and grow with teammates that are working on the same skills. It will provide an environment for all to improve.
Online registration for the NFC Basketball Summer Program will begin on April 8th. The registration fee for grades 2-12 is $80.00. Regular registration will close on June 10th. However, we will take late registrations until June 15th but will charge a $15 late fee after June 10th, this can be waived by calling 703-437-9229.
NFC's summer season has only a house program; there is no Travel program in the summer. However, this is a great opportunity for travel teams to practice skills for the fall/winter season. The house program is open to all applicants in grades 2-12 regardless of skill level or place of residence. Those who participated in a winter travel program or played for their high school teams are also eligible to participate. All participants must be in at least 2nd grade.
Grades 2 - 6 will have a train and play session each week. Teams will have an hour and half time slot which will allow hand picked coaches to work with their teams, training them and sharpening their skill level. They then will play games to apply what is being learned. Grades 7 - 12 will be playing games each week against evenly matched opponents. No age group division will cover more than two grades.
Some divisions will have one weeknight practice and a weeknight game for the first few weeks and then go to just weeknight games for the remainder of the season. High school aged players have a single pre-season practice then go straight to games only (weeknight games).
The season will start in mid June (exact dates to be determined) and will go until August 8th.
