Thank you for your interest in the Pittsford Little League (PLL).
We offer baseball and softball programs to all players from Pre-K through 16 years of age. Players of all abilities who reside in Pittsford or East Rochester or attend school in Pittsford or East Rochester are eligible to participate. We believe “if you want to play, you can play”. We also offer Challenger baseball, an adaptive program for children with physical or intellectual disabilities. Through the game of baseball and softball, we teach life lessons in leadership, perseverance, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Registration for Spring 2020 is underway. The 2020 PLL spring season runs from late April to the end of June (end of the school year).
Teams will generally play 10-15 games during the season, with 1 or 2 practices per week, depending on the level and size of each league. Our Tee Ball teams practice and play games in one combined session each week.
Baseball Divisions and Team Assignments:
For our “instructional” baseball programs the emphasis is solely on instruction and skill development. For games at this level, score is not kept; whenever possible, teams are formed based on the school players attend. Tee Ball, Coach Pitch and Machine Pitch are instructional divisions.
All other levels of baseball are “player-pitch” umpired divisions. For these, games scores and standings are kept, and the season ends with division play-offs/championship. Teams are formed through a player draft and all players are required to attend a low-pressure skill evaluation to help determine team placement. Rookies (10u), Minors (11u), Majors (12), Intermediate 50/70 (13u), Juniors 60/90 (14u) and Seniors 60/90 (16u) are player-pitch divisions.
Age determination for baseball is per Little League standards which is a player's age as of August 31, 2020.
Usually by the first week of April, team rosters are posted and managers email families to introduce themselves and provide information.
Player Evaluations:
Pittsford Little League baseball is open to all skill levels and abilities - there are no cuts. In order to achieve competitive balance within each player-pitch division, players are required to attend a skill evaluation each year. If your player did not attend the Pittsford Panther travel baseball fall player evaluation (held in September 2019), your player is required to attend a player evaluation. PLL player evaluations are a low-pressure assessment of a player’s baseball skills – pitching, hitting, fielding, and running.
Skill evaluations will be held on:
Sunday, February 29th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Calkins Road MS gym
Sunday, March 8thfrom 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Mendon HS gym
Once you register your player, you will receive a registration confirmation message, this message will have instructions and a link to register for the evaluation session that your player will attend.
Uniforms and Equipment:
Each player receives a team shirt and hat; players provide their own baseball pants (usually white), belt, and socks; molded cleats are also recommeded for practices and games.
Each player provides their own glove; all other equipment is provided by the league. Should a player opt to use their own equipment, it must comply with league standards; all bats must have the "USA Baseball" emblem; batting helmets for players in the Rookies and Minors divisions must have a face mask (cage not flap).
Special Information for Girls:
