My my My my

Our first Annual Pink The Rink games to benefit breast cancer awareness were held on January 22 and were a huge success on many levels.  It looks like the start of a great tradition!  There were 902 tickets sold to the games!  The evening went off without a hitch and all events ran smoothly.  There was great student involvement both at the middle and high schools during the week of the games and at the games themselves!  Pink Tshirts abounded, the RIT pep band added to the excitement and many had fun trying to win the prize at chuk a puck.  We had DJ music, live anthem singers, great announcing and also great support from the McQuaid teams and community. Many Pittsford Hockey alumni attended as well as hockey fans unrelated to Pittsford!

The final numbers are almost complete but it looks like we will have $2000 to donate to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester from admission proceeds, bracelet sales, chuk a puck sales and game day donations.

In addition our Power Play on Cancer continues-so far pledges and donations to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Pittsford Hockey total about $3000!

On behalf of Pittsford Hockey I want to thank all of you for supporting this inaugural game by sponsoring jerseys, donating your time, forwarding information to hockey fans, showing up to cheer and just plain getting in the spirit!

If you were unable to attend the game, our photographer posted pictures on his website at
www.cardinalsportsimaging.com.  Password is pics and you will see several folders for Pink the Rink.

Democrat also had a good gallery of action shots.

As you know, we plan to make this an annual event.  Our pink jerseys and socks will be stored to use every year.  The 13 sponsor patches from this year will remain on the jerseys forever.  We hope that each year we can add some more so if anyone is interested in sponsoring a jersey feel free to contact me at

Again, thank you for making this a truly successful venture.
