(Important) Pre-Season Coach Registration Process (COVID Coordinators see below heading in red)

There are a number of steps you need to take to be allowed to meet with kids or serve in an official capacity for HSC.  Some are required by Massachusetts Laws, some are required by state soccer and MYSA/NVYSL, and others are required by our local club.  This applies to coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, and various club staff.  Some of these steps only apply for those that are part of the travel program with NVYSL, and those are marked as such below.

Final clearance is by the HSC registrar (Jin Qian, email address qianjinttv at gmail.com).  Please make sure you follow the instructions below before the first practice session of the season to avoid being left off team roster or not being able to meet with the kids.

  1. (All) Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) Adult registration and CORI application online, read the “Adult Registration Process” carefully, click the "U.S. Soccer Connect Adult Registration Portal" link at close to the bottom of the page.
    1. Choose "Harvard Soccer Club" as your organization. Finish CORI, NBGC, Safe Sport, and Concussion training.
    2. Photo must be 1 person, headshot, no hat, no sunglasses. The photo will be on your MYSA credential worn by you on the field.
    3. Login to your MYSA account to check CORI status often to make sure it is approved. For 2020-2021 school year, CORI must be valid through 07/31/2020. Print the CORI Acknowledgement Form for final step (4). It takes up to a few days to be approved, so do step 1 early.
    4. In your MYSA ccount, "Certificates" tab, If your SafeSport, concussion, or CORI Verification show as Verified (you see a check mark), no action is needed from you for this registration year.
    5. If you are having difficulties call the U.S. Soccer Connect Helpline at (800) 808-7195 or (855) 703-2558 for assistance.
  2. (All) HSC Coaches Safety Pledge - HSC document describing the coach's basic safety responsibilities. Once a school year. Email signed document to HSC registrar.
  3. (NVYSL travel teams only): NVYSL Coach's Pledge is NOT required anymore.
  4. (All) CORI Verification - Prepare a printed copy of “CORI Acknowledgement Form” (see above step 1c) and your physical driver’s license. Either the HSC Registrar or the HSC President will verify these 2 documents in person. This step is called CORI Verification (not CORI application), required by Commonwealth of Mass Law. CORI Verification only needs to be done once as long as you are a member of HSC (Harvard Soccer Club).
  5. Age Group Coordinators will confirm that every coach in the the age group has finished all paperwork before coaches get on the field to meet the kids.
  6. Please understand that the above steps are put in place by Massachusetts Laws, MYSA, NVYSL, and Harvard Soccer Club (HSC), for the purpose of protecting the children in Masschusetts and particularly, the children in our town. The process may seem complicated or even somewhat irritating for some, but please keep in mind that we are all HSC volunteers (coaches, coordinators, other HSC staff members) who are trying our best to make the soccer programs succesful for our town's children to enjoy.
