Matrix 13U Green Team
Goes 3-0 at Cardinal Tourney,
Running Season Record to 5-1

The Matrix 13 Green team completed a perfect 3-0 Saturday at the Cardinal opener.  All three games were never in doubt, as the Matrix won each time by at least 20 points.  The day began with back-to-back games during which the girls showed no signs of being fatigue.
Game 1 vs. MD Grizzlies
In the first game, vs. Maryland Grizzlies, the Matrix out-hustled the Grizzlies, beating them up and down the court for easy baskets.  Gabriella Salcedo paced the Matrix , scoring a game high 12 points in what amounted to a great team effort.  The girls used the quick start to fuel the rest of the weekend.  Ellie McDonald, playing in her first tournament of the season, played her point guard role to a tee, facilitating easy buckets for her teammates, being a floor leader, and knocking down open shots when her teammates found her.
Game 2:  Matrix Take Down Arlington Pride by 20
About 10 minutes after defeating the Grizzlies, the Matrix played the Arlington Pride.  The Pride used an effective 2-3 zone for the first few minutes, keeping the Matrix players out of the lane.  Meagan David sparked the team with 8 first half points, including 2 three pointers.  The Matrix steadily gained momentum, and eventually exploded for a 52-32 win.  Johanna Eisenberg put on a shooting display, scoring 16 points including 4 three pointers.
Game 3 Defeat Hoop Magic
In the final game of the day, the Matrix put a workman-like performance together, dimantling an overmatched Hoop Magic team.  Again, the girls showed no sign of fatigue, and buckled down on defense until shots started falling.  Jennie Kleinknecht was aggressive on defense; often hustling back to intercept passes and generally making life very difficult for the Hoop Magic.
Season to Date:  Team is 5-1
The Matrix 13 Green have started the season quickly, going 5-1 over their first two tournaments.  The team is led by the toughness and all-around game of Molly Crum, who often sets the tone with a take no prisoners approach.  Coaches Cannon and Trahant are extremely proud of their group and are excited to see how far they can climb.
