Q:  Does this NYSAHA Letter on May 19, 2020 apply to house teams?

A: No. House teams are not in-scope for the May 19, 2020 letter. However, subsequent clarification states that house teams can begin "sign-ups" beginning June 11th as well.

Registration

Q:  Who can I contact for questions about a specific team?

Q:  Is registration required?

A: Yes. We ask that all players complete the registration form. The online form will be available June 1.

 

Q:  How much does it cost to register?

A: Registration is free.

 

Q: How do I register my child?

A: Registration will be conducted at jramerks.com with a simple online registration form. 

 

Q: When does registration open?

A: Registration will begin on June 1, 2020 for our 14U AAA TB, 15U AAA TB, 16U AAA TB, and 18U AAA TB teams. All other travel team registration will be open on June 11, 2020. This includes all remaining AAA and AA teams from 8U to 18U. For a list of teams click here.

 

Q: When does registration close?

A: There are two registration deadlines:

  • Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. for AAA Tier I Tournament Bound Teams 14u-18u.
    • 14U AAA TB -- Head Coach: David Andreatta
    • 15U AAA TB – Head Coach: Shane Madolora
    • 16U AAA TB – Head Coach: Dave Maksymiu
    • 18U AAA TB – Head Coach: Steve Zanon
  • Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 5:00 p.m for all our travel hockey teams including AAA non-TB, AA, and Girls. For a complete list of teams visit our Coaches Page.

 

Q: Do players who were part of Perinton Youth Hockey need a release to register for Jr Amerks?

A: No. Players who were part of Perinton Youth Hockey in 2019-2020 do not need a release.


Tryouts

Q: When are tryouts?

A: Our tryout dates are unknown at this time. We are working with NYSAHA. They continue to address events as they evolve. NYSAHA will notify us of when tryouts and other sanctioned events may be scheduled, subject to such activities being permitted by the State of New York and applicable local government authorities.

 

Q: Are players who’ve already committed to a team required to participate in on-ice tryouts?

A: No. Due to safety precautions players who are already committed to a team will not skate at tryouts.

 

Q: When are house team evaluations?

A: Our house team activities were scheduled to take place in the spring. We plan to hold tryouts for our 10U, 12U, and 14U Red teams and White and Blue Team evaluations as soon as USA Hockey and NYSAHA allow us to conduct official hockey activities. Team Selection

Q: Can a player who’s already committed before June 30th be removed, or cut, from a team a later date?

A: Any player who signs a commitment letter to a team cannot be cut to make room for any player signed thereafter.

 

Q: What happens if we suffer a financial hardship or have concerns about COVID-19 and elect not to play for a team we’ve already committed to?

A: If a player/family who has signed a commitment form for the 2020-2021 season needs to withdraw due to financial hardship or COVID-19 concerns, they will be permitted to do so by August 15, 2020 whether or not a deposit was placed. They will receive a full refund of any monies paid to date, with the exception of the cost of jerseys or equipment that was purchased for a specific player. Players who are released under these conditions will not be permitted to play for any other National or State Tournament Bound team or other travel team, and will only be allowed to play in house league hockey for the 2020-2021 season.

 

Q: How much does it cost to commit to a team?

A: There are no fees for registration or for committing to a team. Payment information will be determined once we are confident that our hockey season can proceed as expected.

 

Q: Can players be selected for a team without a tryout?

A: Yes, NYSAHA has modified their rules to allow players to be selected and added to rosters without a tryout.

 

Q: How will a player be notified they've been selected to a team?

A: If a player is selected to join a travel team they will receive notification via email from the head coach of the team.

 

Q: How will committment forms be handled?

A: Player commitments forms will be completed via our new online process. No paper documents required.

 

Q: How are teams put together?

A: Even without tryouts, our player selection process will be the same as in years’ past. Our goal is to place players on teams most suitable for their development as hockey players. Travel team rosters will be determined by the head coach of each team with assistance from the Jr. Amerks hockey committee.

 

Uniforms and Apparel

Q: What color helmets will we wear as Jr Amerks?

A: Royal Blue. Same color as Rochester Americans AHL team.

 

Q: What will the uniforms look like?

Q: Are players on house team required to wear Royal Blue helmet, Jr Amerks Shells, and Jr Amerks color gloves?

A: No. There are no requirements for house players to wear any specific colors or helmets, pants, or gloves.
