Tryouts are necessary for league placement and to help in drafting teams with equal talent.
All players who register for McLean Little League will be placed on a team. However, registrations postmarked after the closing date will be accepted with a late fee, but players will be placed on a waiting list.
Managers will draft players immediately following the tryouts.
Please note: if you mail in your registration, and a tryout is required, it is your responsibility to contact the league to schedule a tryout.
2010 BASEBALL
Baseball players ages 9-12 who are not currently on a Majors team MUST try out.
At the tryout players will be asked to:
(1) do a timed run of 60 feet. Bases are 60 feet apart in Little League.
(2) field 3-5 ground balls and throw the ball to an individual standing 50-80 feet away.
(3) field 3-5 pop ups and throws the ball to an individual standing 50-80 feet away
(4) attempt to bunt 1 to 2 pitches
(5) then 5-7 swings from a pitching machine.
Baseball try-outs are scheduled by age. Please be prepared to sign up for a specific try out date and time at registration.
Please arrive ten minutes before your scheduled evaluation time. Evaluations should take no more than one hour.
Bats and batting helmets will be available. However, players are urged to bring their own glove, bat and batting helmet. Also please make sure players wear sneakers (NO CLEATS).
2010 SOFTBALL
- February 21st at Chester Gym from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
- Febrary 28th at Chester Gym from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Softball players MUST try out for AA level and above, if not currently on a Majors or Seniors team.
Players will be asked to:
(1) do a timed run of 60 feet. Bases are 60 feet apart in Little League.

(3) field 3-5 pop ups and throws them to an individual standing 50-80 feet away
(4) attempt to bunt 1 to 2 pitches
(5) then approximately 5-7 swings from a pitcher or pitching machine.
Interested softball pitchers will be asked to throw about 5-7 pitches to a catcher.
