Leonda Lee

14U/9th Grade Black Team


General background.  Coach Leonda Lee was born in Tacoma, Washington but was raised in Raleigh, NC. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tar heels!!!) where she earned a BA in Mathematics and her Masters Degree in Teaching Secondary Mathematics. She currently teaches at Mark Twain Middle School and is an Assistant Coach at West Potomac High School.

Coaching experience.  Coach Lee began coaching basketball during her senior year at UNC where she was assistant coach of the club team. After completing graduate school, she went on to coach for 2 years at Hillside High School and coached another 2 years at Northern Durham High school located in Durham North Carolina. Her AAU experience includes being an Assistant Coach for the Carolina All-stars 13U and the Garner Flames 16U.

As mentioned above, she is currently an assistant at West Potomac High School. In her spare time, Coach Lee plays in the Legends Women’s Basketball league. However due to torn ACL/MCL she has been on injury hiatus. As you can see, Coach Lee is highly involved and committed to basketball as a player, coach, and mentor. She is excited about her first head coaching job with the Matrix Basketball Organization!!!!! 2009 will be Coach Lee’s first year with the Matrix

Coaching Philosophy.  Coach Lee believes that “good is the enemy of great” and that you get what you give as an athlete and in your daily life. Effort, commitment, and trust are three important facets of her coaching philosophy. As it pertains to basketball, she specifically believes that defense, rebounding, taking care of the ball, working hard, and having fun are essential for success on the court.

Coach Lee will be working with HD Baha and they both are defensive minded coaches that place high priority on teaching fundamentals and on developing sound basketball players.
