Nick Cannon
2015 White Team/7th Grade

General background.  Coach Cannon grew up in Arlington and attended Washington-Lee High School where he played basketball and football for the Generals.  Nick attended the University of Arizona after high school and then graduated from law school at the University of Richmond in the Spring of 2007. Nick is now as an attorney in Northern Virginia.

Coaching Experience.  Nick returns to the Matrix for the 2011 season for his 7th year as a Matrix coach.  From  2005-2009, Coach Cannon had been with the same group of players as head coach as they've grown up from 4th grade to 8th grade. 

Last season, Spring 2010, Nick was the assistant coach of the 12U Green team, the Potomac Valley 11U D-II bronze medalists.  In 2008 Nick coached the 12U Green team, in 2007, he was head coach of the Matrix AAU 11U Green team, and in 2006 was the head coach of summer league 11U Green team.  

Nick is also a long-time coach in the Arlington Travel Basketball program.  For the 2009-2010 season, Coach Nick was the head coach of the Arlington Travel 11U/6th Grade Division 2 team.   He is assisting the same team as 7th graders/12U for the 2010-2011 season.  

Coaching philosophy.  Coach Cannon believes in developing the individual skills and teamwork which he believes translates to improved team play. 

Coach Cannon is joined on the sidelines by Coach Chris Trahant, the 12U White team's head coach, who is returning for his fourth year with the Matrix.   

Coach Cannon and Coach Trahant share the same principles of coaching: work hard, play defense, have fun, and be a good teammate both on and off the court.
