Fall 2019 Little League Junior & Senior Division Rules

***Unless specified below, the 2019 Little League Rule Book applies for

Little League Junior and Senior Divisions***

Mandatory Play Rules

MARA v. Outside Opponent Games

      Option 1

  • Follow standard Little League rules for batting order with substitutions
  • All players present and dressed must play
  • Each player must play a minimum of 2 consecutive innings on defense
  • Each player must have at least 1 at bat
  • Starter may reenter in the same position in the batting order once the substitute player has played the minimum number of innings; substitute player may not reenter
  • Barring an injury, a substitute may not be removed from the game prior to completion of his/her mandatory play requirements

      Option 2

For regular season games during the fall 2019 season, District 3 will allow a team to bat all players present at a game (i.e., continuous batting order) with flexible defensive activity.  In doing so, the team will still ensure that all players present get 6 consecutive outs in the field.  All teams in District 3 may choose this option at the beginning of each game, but neither team may change its choice once a game has begun.

Note: If one team chooses to utilize continuous batting, the other team may still bat a normal 9-player lineup.  For post-season tournament play, all teams will play by the Little League Tournament Rules, which include roster limits (both Senior/Junior) and playing requirements (Juniors).

MARA v. MARA Games

  • Bat all players present and dressed (i.e., continuous batting order)
  • All defensive activity is flexible, but all players must play a minimum of 3 innings on defense in regulation games; innings need not be consecutive
  • The final MARA-only tournament game is subject to the rules for MARA v. Outside Opponent Games

Notes:

  •  The only exception to the Mandatory Play rules is if the game is shortened for any reason.  (A game is not considered shortened if the home team does not complete the offensive half of the seventh inning due to winning the game.)
  • The MARA Mandatory Play rules do not apply to MARA Challenge games.
