Dear SYL Families:
*IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE*
The Cascade "R" lacrosse helmet recently failed NOCSAE safety testing standards. Cascade has been working diligently to resolve the issue and has come up with a modification that NOCSAE has approved. The helmet in question can be identified by the capital “R” printed on the corners of the visor on the front of the helmet. Unmodified helmets will not be allowed on the field during the upcoming spring lacrosse season. This does not apply to all Cascade helmets. Models CS, CS-R, CPV, CPV-R, CPX-R are NOT recalled and are completely acceptable to wear.
*The warrior Regulator Helmet has also had its NOCSAE certification revoked, but we have no additional information from Warrior on any resolution.
Instructions to return a Cascade R Helmet for Certified Modification
Players can return a helmet for certified modification by going to www.cascadelacrosse.com . Once you have applied for the modification through their site, Cascade will send you a pre-paid shipping label. Once you receive the label, put your Cascade R helmet in a box, affix the shipping label and send the helmet to Cascade. When the helmet arrives at Cascade’s facility, it will be professionally updated with the certified modification and a tamper-resistant sticker will be applied to the helmet to prove it has completed the certified modification. The helmet will then be sent back to you. The modification will be free of charge for consumers and retailers, including shipping. We have had several families already successfully complete the process and have received their modified helmet in about a week.
Any questions related to identifying the helmet model can be directed to Ned Eastman at
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
