Zeeland Little League Equipment 

Players Need To Provide

  • Baseball
    • Baseball Pants (white or grey)
    • Baseball cleats (rubber only for 12 year olds and younger. Middle School League players may wear metal spikes)
    • Baseball fielder glove
    • Socks and belt
  • Softball
    • Softball Pants (black)
    • Softball cleats (rubber only)
    • Softball fielder glove
    • Softball Belt

 

​All players may use their own equipment (bats, helmets, catcher's gear, etc.) in ZLL so long as it meets the specifications set by Little League International. ZLL also provides equipment to players and teams as outlined below:

 

Uniforms

  • ZLL will provide the following uniforms to its members for the regular season:
    • Baseball Players – Team Jersey and Hat
    • Majors and Minors Softball Players – Team Jersey and Socks
    • Tee Ball and Coach Pitch Softball Players - Team Jersey and Hat
    • Baseball Coaches – Team Shirt and Hat
    • Softball Coaches – Team Shirt

 

Team Equipment

  • ZLL will issue team equipment to coaches:
    • Baseball
      • Each A, AA, AAA, Majors, and Middle School team will be issued one (1) equipment bag for the regular season
        • 1 set of catchers gear (shin guards, chest protector, mask)
        • 1 catcher’s glove
        • 3 Batting helmets
      • Game balls will be kept in sheds and provided by umpires
        • ​Tee Ball and Coach Pitch game balls will be provided by coaches (use best of practice balls)
      • Buckets of practice balls will be provided at fields sheds and should be placed back in sheds after practices
    • Softball
      • Each team will be issued one (1) equipment bag for the regular season

League Equipment

  • ZLL will provide additional playing equipment at its home fields.
  • The equipment listed is available for team use during games, and must be returned to its storage location after games.
  • Baseball
    • Bats for game use will be provided at each field
    • Helmets are provided for Tee Ball and Coach Pitch teams
  • Softball
    • Fielder masks (required for all Majors/Minors players in the infield) will be available to teams as needed.
    • Game bats will be provided at each field.
    • Helmets are provided for Tee Ball and Coach Pitch teams
  • All other equipment (screens, nets, batting tees, etc.) is for league use and is expected to remain at the facility it is located.

Equipment Replacement

  • Coaches are requested to inventory the items issued to them at the Coaches Meeting to verify the contents.
    • “Missing” items must be brought to the attention of the Equipment Director, Vice President, or President at the time equipment is issued.
  • Coaches are encouraged to check the sizing of equipment during the first week of practices to ensure proper function and fit.
  • If there are any issues with equipment size or function, or the team needs additional equipment (for example an extra helmet or left handed catcher’s glove), ZLL will add/replace the item per the coaches’ request.
    • Notifications for equipment addition or replacement must be sent via email to
    • A ZLL Board Member will respond to the request and arrange a day and time to add or exchange the equipment
    • ZLL provide the requested equipment addition or replacement as soon as feasible.

 

End of Season Equipment Return

  • After the completion of the team’s final game, coaches are required to return the team issued equipment to ZLL.
    • Equipment can be returned to the Zeeland Recreation Office (320 E Main).
  • All equipment must be returned by August 1.
  • The inventory of items returned must match what was given to the coach either during the regular season or through equipment exchange/replacements.
    • The only exception is balls, where coaches are asked to return as many as possible so that they can be used again the following season.
