PYH Families,
We are almost to the end of an epic season.  Our PYH ice for the 2020-2021 season will continue until April 22nd.  It was mentioned at our recent annual meeting, but is worth repeating.  We are all so thankful to everyone involved in keeping our kids on the ice this season, including our Covid Safety Committee, our Board of Directors, coaches, parents, league management, Mass Hockey leadership, and our rink owners.  We are also extremely thankful to our families with first responders, health care workers, and those on the front lines keeping our community safe and open.
In preparation for the 2021-2022 season, we will launch our registration on April 1st.  As done in the past, this will be the same day USA Hockey opens its registration, which will be required to sign up with PYH.  Registration for next season will be open for the month of April only.  We will keep registration open for Mites and U6 ages players into August.  Anyone else registering after April will be waitlisted and subject to a $100 late fee.
As a reminder, Pembroke Youth Hockey offers the following:

Partnerships with Salt Shack Crossfit, Adidas, and more.
There are so many hockey choices out there for your players, including club and private teams, school hockey, and other town offerings. Our goal at Pembroke Youth Hockey is to provide a safe, growth oriented, family friendly and stable environment for your players to learn the great sport of hockey through an affordable and enjoyable experience.  We are inclusive to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or skill level.  Winning is secondary at PYH, with an extra emphasis on growth and development on and off the ice.
If looking at other programs, our most important advice is to ask the following questions: Who are the coaches and directors? What is the development plan? Practice:Games ratio? Ideally >3:1. Is the strategy all about the wins or to get the child ready for the next year on and off the ice?  It should always be about development, fun, getting prepared for the next level, and learning life lessons.  Be careful of playing too many games, taking too many trips, and not focusing on skills.
We do have a slight tuition increase next year in order to meet our goals to have receivables equal to our full year costs.  We will have increased league fees and payment processing charges next season.  We are thankful to Hobomock Arenas for our ice partnership, and the ownership group is planning to keep its ice costs flat year over year at $369 per hour.  Included in your tuition fee will be one white home and one navy away jersey purchase plus socks ($100 value) and a raffle ticket to our $10K cash prize annual fundraiser ($100 value).  Everyone will be required to pay a $200 registration fee when they sign up in April.  Payment plans will be active from May 15th thru September 15th, 2021.  If a player chooses not to participate at PYH we will refund everything paid minus the registration fee on September 3rd, 2021.
2021-2022 Tuition rates (which include jerseys and raffle tickets for all):
• $1075 ½ Season U19 Girls & Y18 Midgets
• $400 Goalie ½ Season U19 Girls & Y18 Midgets
• $1675 U12 Girls, U10 Girls, U14 Girls, Y14 Bantam, Y12 Peewee, Y10 Squirts
• $650 Goalie U12 Girls, U10 Girls, U14 Girls, Y14 Bantam, Y12 Peewee, Y10 Squirts, Y8 Mites
• $1525 Y8 Mites
• $1050 U6 Mighty Mites
***In order to receive the Goalie Discount, all goalies must attend all tryout sessions at their age level. Goalies must also have their own gear and commit to playing the position all season.
Family discount reminder.  Discounts are applied to families that have 3 or more registrations in our program.  Discounts are applied at 50% from oldest child to youngest child.  Only one discount per child.  If you already receive a goalie discount, that child is not eligible for a family discount.
A new USA Hockey Registration (IMR #) is mandatory to register with PYH.  There is a cost for this.  It is free for U6.  On or after April 1st, please go to the USA Hockey website and obtain your new #.  This provides additional benefits and is also your annual on the ice insurance policy.  Write your IMR # down and enter it into your PYH profile during the registration process.  PYH will reimburse all coaches for their IMR # cost once all annual coaching requirements are completed.
Anyone interested in coaching (new or experienced), must complete a coaching application (found on the PYH website), and send to PYH Coaching Coordinator Matt Mulready via email ( ).  We would really like to have more female coaching candidates.
Our tryout dates will be the following: Midgets and U19 Girls will tryout on a Sunday mid to late August.  U10/U12/U14 Girls will tryout August 30th.  Mites, Squirts, Peewees, and Bantams will tryout Sept 1st and 2nd.   Teams will be announced Sept 3rd.  As a reminder, our tryouts are later because we encourage taking a break from hockey, playing other sports, and acknowledge physical growth over the summer months.  We also place a high importance on the 2020-2021 season coach’s evaluations of players (due April 1st) for team placement.
Optional Sunday Summer Half Ice 3v3s are currently scheduled April 25th through August 29th, 2021 @ Rink 2.  Schedule: 8:00 AM - Mites (2013/2014) / U6 (2015/2016/2017). 9:10 AM - Squirts (2011/2012) / Peewees (2009/2010). 10:20 AM - Bantams (2007/2008) / Midgets (2003/2006).  11:30 AM - All Girls Only U10-U19 (2002/2012).  There is no cost to anyone registered with PYH for the 2020-2021 season.  Also, there is no coaching during 3v3s, only dropping pucks.  We encourage fun & creativity all summer if you choose to attend.
TBD: we may have ice on Thursday nights starting April 29th and going weekly thru August 26th for a Summer goalie clinic – this would be included in your season tuition. Stay tuned for more details.
New this summer (not included in 2021-2022 season registration): PYH will host Powerskating and Stickhandling with Ben Travers for 2 hours on Tuesday nights at Hobomock beginning April 27th. We have 3 separate 6 week sessions for Mites and up, broken up by age groups.  We will also host a series of Learn to Play Hockey sessions for all new players aged 4-12 in 6 week increments.  Anyone is welcome from any town to register.  See our PYH website for registration options and more details.
We are also always looking for more volunteers.  We cannot be successful without the help of our members.  Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering at PYH.
Thank you again for your continued commitment to our program, your feedback and ideas. We hope to see you again for the upcoming season.  If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the PYH Board directly or via email at .
Thank you,
Pembroke Youth Hockey
