The Pembroke Pines Police Department will conduct background checks for Pembroke Pines Optimist baseball.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department will take walk-in background checks on Tuesdays between 9am and 5pm at the police station located at 9500 Pines Blvd. Please go to the 4th floor for coaching live scan.

Scheduled appointments at the Pembroke Pines Police Department can be made by calling the Pembroke Pines Police Background Unit at 954-431-2705.

Background Check Renewals will not be required to be finger printed again. For Renewals ONLY, the Background Screening Renewal Form CAPS must be filled out and turned into the Police Department. The wavier will not be needed a second time as well. The volunteer will then receive an email with their new TCN number. They must then take that new TCN number, go online and pay for the Background Check.

The process for new Backgrounds remains the same. The volunteer must fill out the NEW Background Screening Form CAPS as well as the Vechs Waiver Agreement and Statement form B. Once fingerprinted by the Police Department, the volunteer will receive a TCN number. They must then take that number go online to https://caps.fdle.state.fl.us, enter their TCN and make payment. The Background Check will then be processed.

All coaches, optimist members and parent volunteers MUST have Level II background checks completed before the start of the upcoming season. No one is permitted to coach or volunteer without completing a background check. A separate notification will be sent out once the city has provided PPO with your badge. You will be required to provide a check made out to Pembroke Lakes Optimist (PLO) in the amount of $27.00 prior to receiving your badge. This fee and Level II background process is mandated by the City of Pembroke Pines.
