General Rules and Information:
 

This is a USA Hockey sanctioned Tournament, using USA Hockey rules with the following additions:
  • All players must wear numbered uniforms in the proper team colors

     
  • The home team will wear a light colored jersey and the visiting team will wear a dark colored jersey.

     
  • Each team will provide 2 team officials per game to help run the penalty box and clock.

     
  • Teams will shake hands at Center Ice after the completion of the game.

     
  • Teams will then line up on the blue lines to receive 2 game MVP medals selected by the opposing coach. (4 MVP medals per game).  Not applicable to Mites Division.

     
  • Playing Time: All games will be use time periods as follows:
    • Mites (see Mite's rules Below)
    • Squirt Travel A & Select 14 minutes
    • Peewee House 12 minutes
    • Peewee Travel A 14 minutes
  • A running clock will be used in the third period when one team is ahead by 5 or more goals. A running clock will be used in the third period, if necessary, to comply with the game time slot curfew clock.

     
  • A running clock will be used, at any point in the game, for the remainder of the game, once a total of 17 penalties have been called. Coaches should keep teams under control to avoid this situation.

     
  • Each team is permitted one 1 minute time-out per game.

     
  • Teams should be ready to enter the ice surface for the warm-up period up to ten minutes prior to the scheduled ice time. If the tournament is running ahead of schedule, the teams will be expected to be ready to play.

     
  • Warm-up time will be 3 minutes.

     
  • Mite's Rules:
    • Mite's Division will play half ice and use the "blue pucks".
    • Mite's Division is non-checking and goalies wear pads.
    • Mite's Division uses 4 skaters and a goalie on the ice at one time.
    • Games are run using 2-minute shifts with a horn to announce full line changes.
    • The clock keeps running during line changes.
    • Penalties called by referees last for the duration of the current 2-minute shift.

     
  • Zero Tolerance: Referees will be instructed to STRICTLY enforce zero tolerance rules. The tournament committee reserves the right to remove from the arena players, coaches or spectators who violate USA Hockey zero tolerance policies. The tournament committee reserves the right to suspend any game at any time should it feel not in compliance with good sportsmanship.

     
  • Game Misconduct Penalty: Any player or coach receiving a game misconduct penalty shall be suspended for the next tournament game.

     
  • Fighting or Fisticuffs: Players receiving major penalties for Fighting or Fisticuffs in tournament games shall be immediately suspended for all games remaining in the tournament.

     
  • Match Penalty: Any player or coach or manager who receives a match penalty shall be suspended immediately for the balance of the tournament.

     
  • Game Suspensions: Suspensions resulting from game or gross misconducts, or any other circumstances, which are mandated by USA Hockey or Tournament rules, will not be overturned by the Tournament Director under any circumstances. Potential consequences should be fully understood.

     
  • Protests: Protests related to interpretations of specific rules will be reviewed and considered by the tournament director within one hour of a completed game. Protests must be submitted to the tournament director in writing citing the specific rule, from the 2005-2007 USA Hockey rulebook, in question. Protests related to judgment calls by referees will not be considered. Decisions of the tournament committee are final.

     
  • Game Points:
    • Teams will be awarded points in round robin play as follows:
    • Two points for a win
    • One point for a tie
    • Zero points for a loss


     
  • Tournament Standings: The tournament director will post Standings and teams will be ranked within their tournament Division by the total number of points obtained. In event of a tie, final standings will be determined by the following criteria:
    • Head to head competition
    • Most wins
    • Most goals (5 goal maximum for a single game)
    • Fewest goals against
    • Fewest penalty minutes
    • Coin toss


     
  • Tie Games/Tie Breaking Procedures:
    Each team will receive one point for a round-robin game that is tied at the end of regulation play. There will be no overtime periods for round robin games ending in a tie. If a semi-final or championship game ends in a tie the following tie-breaking procedure will be followed: 5 minute sudden death overtime period (5 on 5, plus goalies) Shootout (5players/team-each player may shoot only once)-most goals wins If shootout ends in a tie, sudden death shootout until winner is decided (each team must continue through roster until all players have taken a shot. If the shootout is not decided, players will continue to shoot in the same order as their first shots).

     
  • Awards:
    • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team trophies for each Division except Mites Division will receive 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place trophies.
    • 2 Individual game MVP metals awarded per team each game
    • All Mite Division participants receive tournament medals (instead of MVP game medals).
