NYHA In-house Overview - 2022/2023

The goal of the NYHA In-house program is to create a fun environment for younger and less experienced players to develop their skating and hockey skills.

Players of ALL abilities are welcome and encouraged to play, including older players who are new to hockey. Players are grouped based on a combination of age, size and skill level.

In-house levels (excluding LTS) typically follow the USA Hockey/American Development Model (ADM) with an approximate ratio of 3:1 practice time to game time.

LTP games are played x-ice and against other NYHA teams within each level.

U8 Development will compete in the Town Line League against teams from Hyde Park, Dedham, Westwood, Wellesley, Norwood and Allston Brighton. All games are played x-ice, or in a small area arena, in a 3x3 format with goalie. Games are played on Sunday mornings at Bajko Rink.

IHM will compete in the Matt Brown League, a developmental league with teams from Hyde Park, Dedham, Norwood, and Westwood. Games are played either half or full-ice on Friday nights at Bajko Rink beginning in early November.

LTS does not play games.

Teams are coached by parent volunteers. In addition, most Saturday practices for LTP, U8 Development and IHM are led by professional coaches from Pro Ambitions Hockey, Inc.

A description of each In-house level is provided below. The In-house program is designed to provide flexibility for players to move up or down a level during the season based on how they are progressing.

Note that players who tryout for a NYH Travel team and are not selected will be placed, depending on their age, in either U8 Development or IHM.

All players who register receive a NYH jersey with a number.

Practices and games are either 55 or 60 minutes and most are held at St. Sebastian's rink in Needham. IHM Majors and U8 Development games are played at Bajko Rink in Hyde Park.
