Travel Teams: Support Silent SIdelines - May 18th & 19th ! by
posted 05/18/2013 To our Hartwell Travel Soccer Community:
This is a reminder that this weekend is Silent Sidelines - May 18th to 19th. This is an event that CJSA and our Hartwell soccer club supports and we are asking for your help and support as well.
The goals of Silent Sidelines Weekend are to:
-
develop our players to make decisions on the field without sideline intervention
-
improve the players’ communication on the field by reducing the outside noise level
-
support our youth referees by eliminating dissension from the sidelines
For a larger perspective on the history of Silent Sidelines, please click/see the attached write up on the CJSA site - Silent Sidelines.
Good luck this weekend and hope all our players enjoy the Silent Sidelines experience. Thank you for helping us ensure a positive environment for our Hartwell players.

U16 Boys Honor Jeff Conner in Sunday's League Game by
posted 05/08/2013 The Hartwell Boys U16 team won their league game against Wethersfield in a heart felt 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon. The boys secured a win after Luke Schroeder found the back of the net late in the second half. The game was evenly matched with both teams denying several attacking runs on goal.
The boys dedicated this game in honor of Jeff Conner who recently passed away after a courageaous battle with cancer. The orange arm bands the team wore represented Syracuse where Jeff graduated from and was an avid sports fan. His son, Chris Conner, has been playing soccer for Hartwell for many years and is a cherished team mate and friend to the boys Back to top |

Luke McNabb, a senior at GHS, has been honored with CJSA’s TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year Award for his support of the Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Clubs TOPS program. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers and accomplished through “player mentors” or TOPSoccer “Buddy”s. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability.

CJSA’s TOPSoccer buddy award recognizes the mentor who best demonstrates patience, understanding, and dependability working with the theirs players and has proven to be an invaluable volunteer who facilitates the program by filling many roles ; coach, cheerleader, and overall role model.
Luke has supported Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer’s TOPS program for many years. He has organized what has become a cherished event for the TOPS players with a soccer game where TOPS players face off against the Glastonbury High School Boys Varsity Team. So far TOPS players remain undefeated!

Hartwell TOPSoccer League for Children with Special Needs by
posted 03/06/2013 The Hartwell TOPSoccer League was founded in 2004 and has been providing fun and exciting weekends of soccer in the fall and spring every year since then for children ages 5 and up who have unique challenges, are residents of Glastonbury and who are registered through the Hartwell organization. The TOPSoccer League is designed to allow children with special needs the opportunity to learn soccer skills at their own pace, and with all necessary supports in place. The TOPSoccer team includes a committed group of coaches and peer mentors who join the players on Saturdays to support skill development, drills and small games. Players who require one to one assistance are offered direct peer mentor support, as well as personal coaching throughout each practice. During the Fall 2012 season the TOPSoccer team had a very exciting and successful game against the GHS varsity boys soccer team who volunteered their time during their own busy season to create a memorable experience for the TOPSoccer players. (See Photo)
Do you have a child with special needs who is at least 5 years old and would like the opportunity to play soccer? Registration on the Hartwell website - www.glastonburysoccer.org - is currently open. If you have any questions, please call Marty and Jennifer Carroll at 860-657-8180. Back to top |

New Uniforms for the 2013 Fall Soccer Travel Season ! by
posted 03/04/2013 Hartwell Travel Parents:
We wanted to send out a note to let you know that for the Fall 2013 Travel Season we will be moving to new Hartwell Travel Uniforms. The board has reviewed some options with our Travel Team Uniform Committee and will be sharing information about the new uniforms as we approach registration for the Fall 2013 Season. We are excited about the upcoming change but did want to let folks know in advance.
This change will not be applicable to the current U13 travel teams considering this would be their last season before high school.
While you can still order replacement uniform items for the upcoming Spring season, you may want to hold on any new additional items if possible as we work through the rollout of the new uniforms.
We will be sharing more information over the next month so stay tune for the unveiling of our new uniforms!
