COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS

Thanks to the Columbus Blue Jackets for their tremendous support of the association and our golf outing!

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

This tournament will be played as a 4-person scramble, using the following rules:
  • Each person hits a tee shot. (Men hit from white tees and women hit from red tees.)
  • The team decides who had the best shot and that location is marked on the ground with a tee (off the green) or ball marker (on the green).
  • All other balls are picked up and moved to the location of the best shot.
  • Balls may be placed by hand anywhere within one yard when off the green and three inches when on the green of the location of the best shot except that they can't be any closer to the hole and you cannot improve your lie

GOLF ETIQUETTE

  • Please smooth all marks made in sand traps.
  • Leave the putting green as soon as you have holed out.
  • Do not play until the players in front of you are out of range.
  • Balls may be cleaned on the green and ball marks repaired prior to putting.
  • You may not repair spike marks prior to putting.
  • Please observe all local rules.

FINAL RESULTS

Prizes will be awarded to the three teams that post the lowest scores, as well as the team that posts the highest score (i.e. last place team).  In the event of a tie, the team with the lowest score on the number 1 handicap hole (not the first hole) will be deemed the winner.  If a tie still exists, this will continue with the number 2 handicap hole, etc. until the tie is broken. If the tie remains unbroken, a putting contest on the putting green will determine the winner.

ShopwithScrip - A way to save $$ on youth hockey fees

With the season now in full swing and the number of new players we have this year, I want to remind everyone about our new Shop with Scrips program. This program is a unique way for families to reduce their players fees directly just by doing the everyday shopping you already do. We rolled this program out in May and several families have already saved hundreds on their children's hockey fees.

What it is: ShopwithScrip is a fundraising program our families can utilize in order to offset their players hockey fees. Essentially, it allows you to purchase gift cards to use instantly (and physical cards soon) and will give NIHA a rebate credit, which will be applied to your player's fees. I am the administrator for this program. Just on the normal things my family buys regularly, we've already saved roughly $200 on our son's fees (we've used these instant gift cards at Target, Walmart, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Lowes, Starbucks, Amazon & Best Buy, to name a few).

You can find the program details and steps on our NewarkHockey.com website under the main navigation header --> Fundraisers --> ShopwithScrip (see screenshot below). When you have a chance, please go there to check out the details and sign up, if you'd like to utilize this program. If you have any questions at all or the instructions aren't clear, please email me anytime. I want your feedback.

Here are some of many examples of places you probably shop regularly already, but can now use to save money on your fees.

Home Improvement - The Home Depot, Lowes 4%
Dining Out - Applebees, Red Lobster, Buffalo Wild Wings, Panera, Texas Roadhouse, Outback, PF Changs 8%
Various other restaurants 9-11% rebates
Pharmacy - CVS - 6%
Shopping - American Eagle, Macy's 10%, Kohls 4%, Bath & Body Works 13%, Old Navy 14%, Amazon 2.25%, Target & Walmart 2.5%, iTunes 5%, Best Buy 4%, Ulta 4%
Travel & Entertainment - Delta 4%, Southwest 4%, Disney 3%, AMC Theaters 8%, StubHub 4%, Hotels.com 6%, Sirius XM 4%
Grocery - Walmart 2.5%, Whole Foods 3%
**Rebate amounts change periodically**
