Change Team:
Frederick Gunn 71, Pomfret School 61

By Bobby Liberatos,

December 3, Pomfret, CT - Frederick Gunn Basketball played with fire in their season opener against the Pomfret School, pulling away in the second half to win by 10. Tristan Davis propelled Gunn to victory by always being a presence in the paint both offensively and defensively. 6 steals, 23 points, and 11 rebounds were some of the highlights from his night. Santana Sinvilcin was lights out from three going 4 for 5 as he scored 23 points contributing greatly to Gunn’s offense. Greg Kenney chipped in another 15 points as well being yet another offensive threat for Gunn throughout the game.

Gunn showcased better efficiency on more shots than Pomfret going 50% from two point range. Gunn played aggressive and unafraid, enabling them to take 21 free throws compared to 6 for Pomfret. They hit 15 of those free throws with Greg Kenney going 6 for 6 from the line and Tristan Davis going 7 for 9.

Pomfret had success in the first half but Gunn had the resilience and grit to pull away big time in the second half. RJ Neysmith and Jack Guevara made life tough for the Pomfret offense recording 6 and 5 deflections respectively. Congratulations to both teams for a game well played but especially Gunn for a hard-fought victory.
