Brunswick dropped their first game of the young season to Millbrook School (NY) on Wednesday 65-53.
The Bruins looked to be in control early, building an 18-9 lead by creating turnovers and getting easy buckets in transition. The remainder of the half saw Brunswick go cold from the field, allowing the Mustangs back into the ballgame with a run of their own, and the two teams headed into the locker rooms tied at 28 apiece.
The second half was a back and forth battle as each side traded scores, neither one able to pull away. The Bruins found themselves down by 4 with 1:49to play as they inbounded the ball under their own basket with a chance to make it a one possession game. An errant pass led to a Millbrook fast break dunk plus a foul, ultimately sealing Brunswick's fate.
It was one of those nights where the Bruins got the looks they wanted on offense, but were unable to capitalize, shooting an uncharacteristic 2-21 from three.
Ethan Long scored a team high 16 points, while Wyatt Triestman added 13.
